I have been having a few problems with my uch! When i first got the car the indicator would go off when it pleased for whole journeys at a time! I found out about BBA reman after a few searches and thought it seemed pretty good for the price, I had that done and all was well for a week or so then last Tuesday in the bloody rain my wipers stop working pull over to try and turn car off and on and nothing... So the uch was knackered again sent it back and finally got it back yesterday reinstall it and the indicator comes on when i am using the window, Which is exactly the same as when i 1st sent it off! It is going back again tomorrow, So what i am asking is do you think it is just coincidental that it has broken a few times or is there an underlying issue with the car?!

If moneys tight you can always get a used set up from ebay (UCH/Key/ecu) , they can be had for around £100-£150.

What i dont understand though is if it is the uch why when BBA are bench testing it why are they not finding the fault?

I just don't understand, I have paid quite alot of money to BBA for them to fix it and after 1 week the car was useless, Where it had failed then i get it back again and its still not right? Im not trying to slate them at all but do they not test it?! Surely if it was faulty is should be fixed or if they are unable to fix it they should just tell me so i could source new/used but actually rectify the problem instead of having to keep sending it back and being without my car for a week at a time!

i had problems with mine.

replaced it with a second hand set off ebay (uch/ecu/key fob) worked great.

just got a brand new uch etc prgrammed at renault so i had 2 keys and everything matched and that was £465.

so now i have a second hand set for sale (N3 uch,ecu,key fob) its on ebay at the moment with a buy it now of £75

literally having the ame problem m8, sent off 2 bba 3 times but still not right, but the problem now is the immobiiser wont recognise the key and the immob light keeps flashing so i cant drive the car and its stuck at work! only got the UCH back from bba yesterday so emailed them to let them know whats happened and what they suggest to do as i cant afford to keep the car off the road all the time! they emailed back to say the customer service manager is dealing with it, im hoping they may pay 4 a new uch as since the 1st time i sent it off its come back with more problems every time! Id like to say though that bba's customer service is still very good and have no problems with that at all, they have been helpfull and informative throughout

yeah i have been getting very good customer service with them and there has been no quibbles about sending out a courier which cant be cheap! On my way home again and the whole thing has gone i have only had it back for 24hours! I have rang them again and spoken to a bit more of a knowledgeable guy and he said that the last 2 times they have had the unit it has been the capacitors gone on it and if it is again this time they think it could be something on the car! Is there anything i should be checking on the car like dodgy earths? does anyone know where the main earth straps are located? On a positive note though just had a new lambda sensor and air filter and the car drives great! So much quicker on pickup!

^what was up with yours m8? did u send it 2 bba and it came back with different faults? im gona check the earths on my car aswell but ive just shelled out for a new battery and still got the immob problems. dont suppose the immob wouldnt work with a bad earth??

Was just driving home and all the things controlled by the uch stopped working like wipers, indicators, windows and as soon as i turn the key off it wont come back on as the imob isn't getting a signal!! The last 2 times it has completely gone has been when it is pissing it down, Don't know if it is linked but is a bit coincidental?!?!
Anyone have any suggestions?

is your immob light flashing or on constantly? im gona try changing the key fob battery and disconnect and re connect the decoder ring in the mean time and see if this makes any difference. just want 2 use my sodding car!!!

I don't think it is on at all to be honest i haven't really paid much attention to it! I think mine has an underlying fault with something to keep making this error not sure tho!

New UCH time as per Mike at RenTecs post i'm afraid. We do them to for a lot less than Renault so do'nt feel the dealer is the only option.

Repairs are all well and good if its a simple component at fault such as the central locking relays but if its board damage due to water ingress the structure itself is weakened which doesn't help. Then they will manually inspect the tracks by eye and attempt a repair... this is where things can and do go wrong as damage is missed and/or the repair itself may not stand up to the test of time.

Next cheap option is the replacement of the matched UCH/ECM/Key set or just bite the bullet and have the job done right in the first place and have a 100% new, virgin UCH installed, setup and coded to your vehicle.

Depends on the level of equipment on your car. Most sports use an N2 or N3 UCH which cost around £280 + VAT retail then an hours CLIP time (Not that it takes an hour; more like 30-40mins).

Normally works out around £320-350

do u do a mobile service mick? im a bit far away i think, (buckinghamshire). would u reckon if the immobiliser light is flashing fast its a problem with a decoder ring/key or the uch? or all of them? just seems coincidental how its happened since bba had the uch.

just had a call from bba who said theres nothing they can really do as it seems the car has lost sync. need to find someone in the south east near high wycombe that has a clip machine to do a diag on it so i can see what the problem is and get it sorted!

Myne is on its way back to BBA for the 3rd and final time if it doesnt work this time i will ask for my money back and try and get a new unit fitted by ktec or a 2nd hand set! The only thing i am concerned about it that BBA said the same things have broken on it every time!?! Is there things i should be checking as i dont want to get a new uch and keep having the same problems and found out i have forked that money out for nothing!!

Got my UCH back again from BBA and the thing has the same bloody problem as when i 1st got the car.... AGAIN!! Does anyone think this could be my car and not the unit?!? BBA rang and said they tested the unit and there was nothing wrong with it, But they decided to re-solder the whole unit and it half works so do you think they meant 'There was something wrong with it we just didn't want to seem useless and annoy you?' Im going to try and get hold of a 2nd hand unit and fit that i just don't want that to break as well Any help would be appreciated!

no worries, think if you get second hand though you have to get all 3 parts anyway. if you get stuck fitting or anything give us a shout ive swapped mine more times than i care to remember!
