ummmm.. melting brakes

  Oyster Card
Just changed my front pads and fluid (which was black)
Car brakes soooo much better, however the brakes smell like they're burning is this because they're brand new?

Done about 20miles with the new pads on, took a good 5 miles before I really felt anything but they're so sharp now.

Something weird tho after bleeding they were crap until I drove for a little while turned the engine off pulsed the pedal and restarted then they are as sharp as anything.

So should I be worried about the burning smell, front wheels is kinda scraping against the disk but its not hard to turn it by hand.

Smell will be the resin on the pads this will go when its burt off.

Scraping will be due to all new discs and pads and there is not much clearance.

If the brakes are working fine then all should be well.

Very worrying how the previous owner could let it get like that but as you know some garages will overlook it; if they're rushed for time.
Gawd knows what other horrors await me when I service it.

So much better though cannot begin to describe how much of a confidence boost it is knowing you have brakes. lol.
Burning smell has disappered now too.

Only thing, I say thing as it might be in my head is the steering feels heavier don't know/see how changing brakes could affect that at all, again it's probably in my head.

If the brakes were binding so badly to affect anything, I wouldn't be able to roll without the engine on oh push it as easily as I could?
