Underneath of a 172mk1 pic request

Does anyone have any pics of the underside of a 172mk1? Preferably the frontal area. I need them because something looks missing from mine like an undertray or something.

the sump should be totally covered by an undertray mate,when it stops raining il pop out and take a pic for ya

Cheers^ yeah there is nothing there, you can see the sump and the gearbox linkages etc.

Doh! I just had a look on the dialogys and its a big thing covering it all, I guess the previous owner must have removed it as I cant see it just falling off.

I still need a pic though as theres 2 on the dialogies and I cannot work out which one it should be one is £50 and the other is £80!!

yeah, it's not as clear as i thought.

basically you should have a small plastic section right at the front, near the bumper. then further back is your sump cover with the access grommet for changing the oil.

OK Fred, Ill keep my eye out for one though, I guess they must be universal for Clios as it just bolts/clips onto the subframe and all clios have the same frame.

It is if you want to protect your sump and gearbox from stones! If
you have ever had a cracked or holed gearbox, you would definately want it there!

Chances of it happening Giles are slim, but I have seen it happen. I have had to replace my 172 gearbox(not because I didn't have guard on) its expensive or at least it can be if you dont know where to go.

I'd end up taking that off to change the oil, what a pain in the arse. Don't know whether mines supposed to have one, theres one listed on dialogys but I haven't got one fitted.

i woudnt worry if u dont have one guys,i mean vw's are supposed to have them but the amount we see that dont is unreal,the threat of something flicking up is there yeah,but most cars up to the late 90's came without them so i wouldnt be losing any sleep over it
