I'm not convinced the RS3s are better than the RS2s, had both on my wife's Megane and the rs3s weren't as confidence inspiring in the wet. The current Mich PS3s I have on the front of my clio are defo not as good in the wet as the RS2s I have on the rear! Would love to find some cheap RS2s in 195/205 45 16s.

I have had 4 of these put on my 182 this month. they aren't to bad very grippy in the wet. however I have a lovely humming noise up to 40mph atm so cant really tell how noisey the tyres are.....unless its the hum !

I can't wait to get mine off next week and replace them for PS3's 🙈 Give me some of that road feedback back.

The fact they're asymmetric doesn't help either, car pulls right when accelerating, left when letting off the throttle. When I had some other wheels I popped them on to see if it was these tyres causing this issue and it was :(

I've been running the XL 87 RS3's for a month now . I had the ones with the lesser load rating before 83's . I don't know if it's in my head , but they do feel stiffer . But I do think part of the reason that some people report they feel a bit wobbly is because the deep tread block and soft compund . Personally I think they are a really good all round tyre , fantastic in the wet .

I have PS3's now and other than the speed of wear (less than 10k for a full set!) I've been happy with them. I'm going to try something less 'summer' this time though, as I did struggle in the winter last year.

To be fair to the PS3's, a lot of it is down to a) the way it's been driven and b) the amount of torque I'm asking them to deal with (350+lb-ft). I've also had Rainsport's on my old 197, and I never had any issues with pulling left/right. That sounds more like tracking than tyre related.

You realise PS3's are also an asymmetrical tyre don't you?

The RS3s seem like a great tyre for the money it has to be said. Not many tyres can touch them in the wet. However they are a little so so in the dry and the wear rate is not fantastic.

I was going to go for the PS3s on my front Turbines but the shop only had RS3s, Bridgestone Turanzas and Pirrellis in 15" and the same in 16" On the basis that they my tyres were said to be illegal (questionable ; the Tuninis had 2mm in the lowest part over 75% of the centre part, but were bald on both edges with the Turbines have 4mm but being bald on the insides ; the tyres had a different texture if that makes sense but they were still black with no wires poking out), I went what what seemed like the best choice at the time.

The next time around I may fit PS3s to the Turbines or if I go back to the Turinis it will be ContiSportContact 5s or PS3s. The former have great reviews and even the CSC3s in their worn state as described above on a wet trackday at Cadwell gripped very very well, to the extent that the rear end on 5mm Toyo T1-Rs was stepping out alot!

I just bought rain sport 3's all round 195/45/16V 84XL.

Exact same size as I had before except I was running yoko.

However with these RS3's I'm getting dreadful wheel arch running on full lock!! Anybody else had these issues?

That is weird, on standard height and std spec tyres you shouldn't have any rubbing.

Jesus christ these tyres are s**t! Ive just had a pair fitted to the rear of my Golf and they are the worst tyres ive ever had.
They do not belong on a performance car. The car now wobbles from side to side at any speed over 70 and over 100 is quite frightening. And this is one of the most sure footed cars out there. Also squirms massively under heavy braking. Previously i had Conti 3's on the back at 1.7mm and they were FAR better than this. Low speed grip is fine but they must have sidewalls made from playdough to be like this.
Im changing ASAP :(

I agree about the squirming under braking, but at 70-100 mine are fine, they're alot better than the RS2's I had, first hot day they ended up coating the sides of the car in rubber, the RS3's seem a lot better plus they grip from cold quite well on my 172, but then i've had tyres people with other cars said were great and on mine they were garbage, I guess tyre performance differs depending on what car you have, on Clio's they're fine, on a Golf R they're obviously sh*t going by your experience.

Also I usually have 30psi on the front and 33psi on the back but the RS3's looked flat and felt soft as liquorice allsorts, so i've started having 40psi all round and they're alot better, try sticking in 7-10 psi more on your Golf and see how you get on.

I've had a couple of sets on RS2's on my 182 and liked them , now I'm on my 2nd set of RS3's . Both the 2's and 3's can feel quiet squirmy at first , It's something you get used to with time . With the RS2's I upped the tyre presure a few psi . Also with the RS3's I made sure I got the higher 87 load rating . I'm not sure if it's the softer sidewalls or the tread block or maybe a combination of both? Personally I think they're a great tyre in both the dry and especially the wet . You can push on with confidence . But then again , everybody has their own personal driving style and preference . The wear rate isn't the best though , but that's not the top of my agenda when buying tyres, It's all about grip in all weathers for me.

Move them to the front and check your pressures. I had a similar experience on my old Focus when the RS3s went on the rear. They are really very good but take a bit of getting used to.
 
Got RS3's on my ST155 and they're great in wet conditions not so great in the dry when pushing on as they have very soft side walls even with XL. I'll be fitting a set to my 16" cup wheels once the Pirelli's have worn for wet track days only, as they would just fold over and melt on a dry track.

What size are they bud?
 
I'm looking at these for my daily commuter, how do they wear? Just looking for a decent all round tyre
Will be fine for the M3 mate for everyday driving and very good for wet conditions for a high powered RWD. If you're a B road blaster though forget it as they're not good at all on the limit and just fold over on themselves if really pushed in the dry.

For my soon to be daily Passat, not the M3! That's running Michelin PSS which are amazing.

What were you expecting? I suspect the Contis were a lot dearer than the RS3s? - and are you expecting to compare them to NS2Rs? They are a budget wet weather tyre - I dont think any one promotes them as anything other - they definitely are not intended for fast road dry use.

If you take it easy they are ok. I fitted mine in january and expect them to see me thru to end of summer. I suspect about 8k on them - Which isnt great, but I do drive mine like a rental. TBH they suit winter/spring use IMO - not because of cold temps, but they are good in really wet weather. With summer round the corner I would be looking for something else.

i used them on my Focus 1.8 diesel daily and they worked a treat. Now put a set of them on wife's Smart ForFour 1300 and she likes them.

Of course I'm not comparing them to the NS2R lol!
I expected them to be similar to a conti/low end Bridgestone yes. Purely from people raving about them on here ffs!
