URGENT CLIO MK1

  Clio Mk1
alright peeps i need to swop the engine in my car , at the minuite its a 1995 mk1 1.2 but the local scrappy only has the 1.4 engine so what i was going to do is buy the 1.4 engine and hope it fits ok the same and the engines looks pretty much the same. But will i have to buy anythink else like ecu or wiring looms??

will the manifolds fit?

put a big turbod motor in it wile your on.
answer to the q if both are energy engines SPI then it should be a straght swap but you will more than likly need the ecu, mayby not, try it with out the ecu you never know it might run and if not then get the ecu

Forget it if you need it working quick go do the simple thing.

In theory its a simple swop but forget it.

Well Imo forget just getting a 1.4 get a 2.0 and rebuilt it and stick it in you have a few otpions

2.0 megan bototm end and 1.8 16V head ported preferebaly

2.0 Williams engine

IMo thats the only times I'd ever bother doing a transplant for the effort and even then I'd not even bother going down that road I'd have to decide whay i wanted a bigger engine if just for the HP then get a tubro lump or two fitted to start with.

ok ok , maybe i didnt explain my self lol sorry. Well the cambelt snapped and the valves are fucked! not a hard job to replace the valves but i thought why not just get a new engine, so i called the local scrappy he said he had a 1.4 energy engine (mine has the 1.2 energy) so i thought id come on here and ask if it would fit without changing the loom or ecu?
also would i need the gearbox or would my 1.2 gearbox fit?

the 2.0 idea is what im going to do when i have a little more cash and more time but i dont have either at the minuite hehe!

1.2 box is fine same box is used on the 1.4's anyway in a different code.

  S2000
Yes it will fit, very straightforward swap and will also give a little more power.

Looms should be exactly the same but you may need the 1.4 ECU, I would imagine it will run on the 1.2 ECU but you would be better off getting the 1.4 ECU.
