Urgent help needed. Dampers with new sprins don't fit?!

I know, incorrect section but I need help urgently. Fitting new springs in the 182, fitted new springs on the front dampers but now the dampers will not fit back onto the car. They are simply too long, the CV joint gets I'm the way. Any idea what's going on?! No mentio of this happening in the guides?

u havent rebuilt the top mount completly have you?

You may need to compress the springs to get it to fit.

jack both sides of the car up so both front wheels are off the ground

Thanks guys, both sides of the car were jacked up, interestingly I think the previous owner tried to bodge a lowering job as the cups at the top of the struts were jammed In to the top coil of the springs!

Ended up having to compress the springs using a breaker bar and a jack (compressors didn't fit), lol. Great ghetto mechanics!
