urgent help with brakes - all in peices

  Racing Blue 182
i have started to attempt fitting my new disks and pads.

Iv followed the changing pads guide, but i cant get the disks off

Do you just undo the 2 bolts on the disks? or do you need to do something with the middle of the disk?

also how do i remove the caliper? is it the 2 18mm bolts behind it? they are stuck.

Help asap as my car is in pieces on my drive

2grub screws in the disc but they may still need some persuasion with a big hammer even then. Cant remember on the caliper it was so long ago, put your back into it and/or get some penetrating oil on there if they are seized.

Right, guess you're talking about the fronts:

To remove the calipers its just the 2 x 18mm bolts you mentioned. They can be stiff, but should come free, then the whole caliper will come off (if you were just changing the pads, you could remove the smaller bolts and just 'flip' up the caliper).

To remove the discs simply remove the 2 x torx bolts (like you've done) then remove the disc. It might need a fair amount of persuation from a rubber hammer. Hit it hard!

You should have 1 maybe 2 torx screws holding the disk on , try pressing the brakes with the screws removed as they can be a bit of a b*stard and rusted on .Once you have removed the screws , give the disks a good swift smack with a hammer .

Can't remember off the top of my head but i think you need a 17mm spanner to remove the caliper , just 2 bolts .

I think you need a 13mm spanner to remove guide bolts ( sliders ) for the pad change and a spanner to hold stop it from turning next to the little rubber gaitor .

Put some copper grease on the hub before fitting your new disks , makes it easier to get em off next time , and some copper grease on the back of the new pads .Make sure you don't get any grease on the front of the pads or disk though .

I'm 99% certain its a 17mm spanner ya need mate . They will be hard to crack as they have thread lock compound on em .
