172 cup RS2 - 330ci
Right thought as a few people are showing their projects up on here I thought I'd join in
I bought a tidy example of a 172 cup from Llandudno 3 years ago now from a couple. I remember seeing it for the first time and getting excited!! Brings back some fond memories of how flippin rapid it felt on the journey home. Being my first petrol car and having run cars with no more than 100 bhp in the past. (I guess you can imagine me not being able to keep up with the gear changes) :rasp:
My previous 306 HDI -
Anywhay the mileage on the car was 33,000 approx and was a very well looked after car, only a dent the size of my fist in the drivers door where he had pranned the wall somewhere.
It was his wife / gf car and they had a little kid and it seemed to me she was in desperate need to sell the car as she was frightened of it. He was looking for £5500 for it at the time and my buying techniques saw the figure come down to £4800. I was extremly pleased!!
Photos of when I bought her -
As you can see, totally standard :approve:
I think I had already fixed the door before those photos.
First thing I did then was paint the calipers yellow, stuck a mongoose exhaust on, a de-cat pipe and a pipercross cold feed intake kit (Realised just a few months ago it does nothing to a clio!) GUTTED
After a year of ownership I had fell in love and bought the car some of these -
And this is how she sat afterwards, totally amazed by the suspension, well worth it.
Another year passes again and i changed the exhaust for a scorpion, replaced the handbrake cables as one side was snapped and fitted new disks and pads to the back of the car. I also while she was raised undersealed the car with an air gun before I put the new exhaust on, even did under the heatshields while they were removed for the cables
You can see in the video the underneath is spic and spac, well worth the effort.
Updates seem to be coming on every summer, lol :rasp:
Decided to book my first track day earlier this year (Its always been my dream) So I booked with Bookatrack in Anglsey on the sat 18th of June. Well looking forward to it, my mate is coming in his Ford escort RS turbo.
Should be good.
Reconditioned the alloys a few months ago in F1 alloys Chester -
Also fitted some Powerflex bushes for the wishbone and ARB - It was a real T**t pressing the brackets back on to hold the ARB!!!! But did stiffen the car up as the standards were shot. Well worth it!
Few weeks ago I didnt like the standard brake kit on the front, seemed to fade after 20 mins of hard driving, so I bought myself some Wilwoods from Jam Sport.
Top quality product and customer service from Jam Sport. Thanks!!!
Ive done 200 miles since and the bite is awesome, I just need to get used to braking late now though :dead:
She has now reached 72k and I plan to keep it for a while longer, never get bored driving her at all!! So future plans are to fiddle more with the power output as I havent really done anything engine wise (Well lets just say I've booked something for the summer again :rasp.
This is the car as it stands now -
PS I want to thatnk oliver, james on here for helping me with the anodised wheel bolts and guidance on the fitting of the Wilwoods. This Forum is amazing and full of great individuals. Shame I didnt find it earlier really :boring:
