V6 gearbox

Car  e60 M5 -172- dciheid
Not sure if the Ph1 and 2 boxes are the same, but the ph1 one is a peach (imo) though im told its from a renalt van?:S

Im suspecting there is sod all chance, but will ask anyway, is there any possibility of it fitting the F4r engine?

I know with the vee being RWD and different mounting it probably not possible, but it is seriously streets ahead of the 1*2 boxes.

Gearknob is also a belter

The PK6 is used in Master's and they're s**t. Forever swapping them, cant select gears, holes in casings etc etc

Some fat slob driving them probably, lol. Seriously though, the selector boxes are gay, have a lot come in for cables sticking which turns out to actually be the box.

Oh yeah my Ph2 Vee gearbox was superb. Miles better than my 1*2 and better than my GTI

V6 box is the best i've used!!! Better than the integra's, Clio's, R32 and certainly better than the BM's!!!

Phase 1 PK6 6012

Phase 2 PK6 6017
Phase 2 PK6 6067

"In New Clio V6 Phase 2, the six-speed "PK6" gearbox has been specially
adapted. The shorter final drive (16/67) lowers the final gearing by
10% to the benefit of response and acceleration. The internal gears are
more closely spaced, with new ratios for first and second (offering a
speed 1.3kph and 0.15kph higher at 1,000rpm), and for third (-
0.48kph). Compact and light, the three-shaft box of New Clio, now
with a final drive ratio of 4.07:1, is the ideal sports gearbox.
These developments are accompanied by a shift mechanism which has
been redesigned for more sporting operation: selector movements
have been reduced by 20% and the stops are more pronounced. These
changes significantly improve the ease and precision of gearchanging."

Have upgraded from the ph1 to a ph2 gearbox in my vee and the ph2 is definately much nicer to use.

its still a good box, but the ph2 is just much better thanks to the changed ratios.

It's an interesting idea. I spose theres every chance as the vee is transverse too. Pics of a vee engine and box on the floor would be helpful.
You'll probably find it has similar issues to the 225 conversion (too long).

You ask, and I shall oblige.

*Edit - actually, looks like the box stayed in the car.

That would be lethal for me, if I owned the Vee and the lump was on the floor like that.

"Right, now that it's out, I'll have this done, that done, that added...." ;)

D.

Is it? Fair enough! I'm just going blind in my old age then.

Probably not helped by the fact you could beat me around the head with a gearbox and I might then just about be able to work out that it's a gearbox.

still as sweet as a nut the day. Love the feel of the gearknob as well, better than a 1*2 one all day
