Valver Alternator HELP :0(

  Clio 190bhp Hybrid

Yeah cause of battery light is alternator. Not sure if it got splashed in terrential rain last night or just failed after 8 years use.

Being asked what size it is and cant see on what little I can see of it. Either 70 or 110 amp. Guessing 70 due to the size.

Anyone know and also anyone ever paid for theres to be replaced, dont look much room to do it. Any ides on labour costs. GSF have quoted £76 plus VAT for alternator if 70 amp.

I had my alternator replaced in March. Was 196.33 all in. Its not an engine out job but it does take small hands and some dismantling. I didnt try to get it any cheaper than that as it was all paid for under an aftermarket warranty. Cant help you with the size im afraid.

yer i had mine replaced , if you know what you are doing then you can do it your self its just fidderly , cost me £119 from Renault and got my mate to fit it. I would get the 110 one mate if i were you only if you are running a sound system off it mind you otherwise get the 70 one.

Pain in the ass though as there is loads of faulty ones i have to have 3! one of them set on fire and was lucky i was in the car wash so they could put it out or i would have set on fire if it had hit the engine!

I ahd mine replaced a lil while ago too, luckily (if i can say that!) my alternator paked up close to me needing a cambelt changed so had that done too. Having an alternator replaced, new camblet and oil filter change and changing fuel filter cost just over 200 quid i think. U might wanna think bout getting cambelt done as well if it due soon?
