Valver and closest 16 match

Howdy once more... If i was to put 16s on the valver whats the closest wheel-tyre match to the standard alloys on 185s?

Id prefer it if I couldnt feel any difference, or at least a plus difference...

would my speedo be slow or fast too?

much obliged!

have a look http://www.cliosport.net/styling/tyreguide.asphere mate.

iirc standards were 185-55-15 = 584.5mm Diameter

as Dean said, 195-45-16 are the closest, which are 581.9mm Diameter.

As they are slightly smaller, it will mean that your speedo will be telling you that you are travelling slightly faster than you actually are. which with all the cameras around, probably aint such a bad thing!

have a look http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.htmlhere to explain this. It will actually mean that your speedo is 0.4% too fast. hardly anything.

What wheels are you planning on going for?

Hope this helps,

Chris.

Thats what Im hoping to do when funds allow. 16" Turinis in gold 35ET and 195/45/16s.....

Phase 2 wheels are ET36 so ET35 is closest in Turini. Guess in 16" they will be 7 rather than 6.5

Thank you for the info!

Not sure about what to go for yet, id like some recommendations if you please..

one question I forgot to ask was how will it affect performance? I know people say 17s give you a slight loss in performance but what about 16s? I quite like the sound of the turinis so say I bought them for example what would happen?

When I put my 16s on (195/45s) I noticed a tiny performance decrease but I really do mean tiny. Most people wouldnt notice....its just I was looking for it.

Speedo will be the same, but the ride will be a bit harder. Not as much as I imagined though.

P.S. Still have more power than me then......lol!

Still! Im still on 15s... :)

will i need to lower it any? will it look good on standard height or will it look like im on stilts...

and dammit why are turinis so expensive?!

Im just going for Turinis as they are available easily in gold, look good on a blue valver. Not aping the williams as I just feel both Renault and Subaru got it spot on by matching blue paintwork with gold wheels.

Weight of wheel will be slightly increased by going to 16" from 15". The larger sizes use flow forming so arent much heavier but unless you can get weight info the heavier wheel will be slower to accelerate. Firmer ride to through a lower profile.

Think 16s are the best compromise for looks and performance. Do like the phase 2 wheels but to refurb mine I guess will be 200 notes and new Turinis can be had for 450 in gold 16" possibly less in silver.
