Looked over a williams 3 tonight, has had alot of work done to it to make it 100% mint again just a few niggles which im unclear of:

What should all the dials read on the dash eg temp and oil pressure and stuff?

Body work issues other than the usual rear arches what should i look for?

Any other pointers?

clutch/brakes/box/cambelt done recently too

Please help an excited me!!

For the dials when warmed up my hybrid runs about 90 degrees (half way on the dial or just below - going a bit over that when going for a blast). Oil pressure should read pretty high from cold - can't remember exact value but about 4 bar on idle iirc and it will probably show no oil pressure on warm idle. When warmed up the pressure should go up a few bar when the revs rise, but won't go too high tbh. The other gauge is the oil level which will give a reading when the ignition is on but won't show a reading when the engine is running.

Should be 1 bar at idel and 3 bar at 3k (thats when warm)

Oil filter and oil choice make a huge difference here though a poor copy cat filter and cheap oil make a huge differece.

Rust on the body is the big iue.

ABS is usless so get that check

PAS pumps/racks can be trouble.

if on warm idle the oil press gauge reads 0...but the pressure rises with revs,.....not a problem. make sure it goes past 3 bar tho, ideally give it a bit of death up to the limiter and make sure the pressure riss all the way up to 6.

temp gauge, again, differs from oil to oil, mine usually reads 120...but i dont potter about ;)

bodywork, as said arches etc. and check the floor , where the plastic covers are for the brake/fuel pipes. they can go here as well.

mechanically, the btm ends are pretty much bulletproof. gearboxes are weak, but if this has just had one, no worries there. belts all done too. bonus. as edde says tho, pas pumps are generally noisy, and spit fluid out onto the cap on the res. this is quiet normal. check the steering for play, theres a plastic cup sits near the btm uj on the column. these wear over time n cause play in the steering.

I woulnd't worry about tha alarm get a new fitted if you want for safety the best thing about the Williams is its a stand alone system so switch it off like mine was an you only have to get the key cut to get it started not like the Mk2 owners who have to spend a fortune. The alarsma re old wires etc wear I would just sack it off for simplicity and replace or else make your own safety features. You need to have the alarm for insurance though realy.

You'll hear the PAS pump wine when turning etc. Some don't though so if you don't hear anything don't worry.

Make sure it stops in a straight line though and on the 3 check the sunroof doens't leak.

sun roof looks ok, curtosy light doesnt work

well my car has a clifford alarm worth swapping or new alarm properly fitted?

Cheers guys!

id also check out why the int light isnt working. a leaky aerial?? the circuit board on the interior light can get wet and erode. could be the aerial or sunroof.

  Massey6465 & saxo1.1
Defo ask him or try it for leaks! Its very annoying...I can vouch for that lol
As 2live said about the Courtesy light thing, because that generally stops working when the waters getting in through the Aerial.
Check that the CAT converter is either on it or comes with the car as you will need that come MOT time!(I missed that on mine)
