Vista (Realtek HD Audio) not recognising Microphone Jack?

  320d M Sport
Put simply I usually connect my mixer for DJing thru the mic input.

I have a new toshiba L300 with Vista, when I plug in the mixer (or any Line In input, mp3 etc) it doesnt recognise it?

Ive enabled Stereo Mix in the sound settings but still no luck.

All I want to do is to be able to use Audaccity / Goldwave or similar to record my mixes.

THIS IS DOING MY HEAD IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no not muted, drivers up to date.

Ive set up this a hundred times on other PC's, never on a laptop though...new soundcard perhaps? Which would be annoyin as this is only 1 week old

Had this problem loads of times with vista and Realtek HD Audio - Check your input config in Realtek HD Audio Manager (control panel). You can assign the inputs different operations.

you can only do that with XP, not Vista.........

looks as if it's impossible reading the hundreds of threads online.

er I've done it plenty of time with vista?

In fact I just checked it and I can change on vista and windows 7 (just right-click the input/output - click connector retasking and then choose what you want the inout to be).

cheers mate, for some reason me, and virtually everyone else who's posted over the years doesn't get that "connector re-tasking" option? Only "audio device settings"...which does nothing!

This has everyone stumped, the online tech forums can't fix it either, it's so annoying. I've had to buy a cheapo usb audio adapter and hope that works!

NOT IMPRESSED

You checked the "Recording device" is set to "Microphone" (Or whatever yours will come up with) and not something like "MIDI Bluetouth bullcr*p"? Disaple any recording devices your not using while your checking as well. Saves alot of hassle

No worries!

My desktop X-Fi card smoked length when Vista first came out. The driver support was horrendous. But the last time I used Vista (approx 6 months ago) - it had been revised and worked fine. Of course, with XP - there's no issue at all. :)
