Vista Transformation Pack Affect

Has anyone tried one of these Windows XP transformation packs to make it look like Vista?

I'm not being a cheap skate at all, just curious if they work ok or bugger your computer up...

Why would you bother?? vista has pap and confusing layouts...
My dad has just got vista, me going from xp to mac was easier then using his vista ( which is now on a duel partition with xp as his software would not work with vista)

It's mainly the desktop aesthetics i'm after rather than the raw function and indepth layouts. You can tick what you want to install out of the list... Just curious if anyone else has used this and the feedback from it.

Mind you i have seen a few xp's with black vista type....look'ed really good, but think you had to pay for the theme

i've heard bad things about them, i looked into doing this too, they change a lot of system files and i think it would e very difficult to reverse the process!

tbh they are a total waste of system resources.

Thhey aren't great, and can cause large delays when clicking on the taskbar etc. Give them a miss, and just get a hold of Vista.

Yup, I had this installed on XP and within a couple of weeks i reformatted and put vista on. Just completely slows the computer down and nowhere near as good as the real thing!

i aint used the above one, but i use a program called windowblinds, used it for about 4 years with 0 problems

i used them quite a bit before i moved to vista, vista pack 4 was what i was using mihgt be updated now, was really good actually, didn't change it enough to make it complicated..

I used Winndows Blinds for years when i had windows 98. No problems at all with it lthough now i need 100% performance im willing to leave the standard xp silver theme on.

I tried Vista and rapidly went back to XP, each to their own and all that on that one though.

Trivia:

The bloke who wrote windowblinds was in my department (computer science) at university, in the year below though. Windowblinds used to be hosted on the university student webserver.

He was a proper geek. Probably a very rich one now though.
