Voip: Which mobiles support it? (Tom)

Car  Clio 197
Hello, me again!

I'm interested in handsets that support Voip... but it needs to work properly enough to make/receive calls.

This can be via either Wi-fi, or 3G; i'm not fussed which.

I was looking at the Nokia E65 (because it does both £g and Wi-fi), but I'd also consider a Blackberry 8100 pearl (if it supports Voip over 3G).

What other handsets do it? I'm not clued-up on Symbian/Java/Windows platforms, so I have no idea.

Anybody's help would be appreciated.

Anything windows mobile (5/6)

Anything with wifi AND SIP.

So thats most of the new Eseries/Nseries nokias.

Thats it.

Yes, they are s**t.

Windows mobiles arent much better.

Eseries is the way to go.

im loving the E61i

I've briefly tried VoIP on my N80 flashed to N80IE.

While I love the phone the VoIP isn't great.

I could here the other person but I was very muffled. Dunno if that's more to do with my internet connection though.

Re E61i

I'm considering one... (based on price compared to the E65).

I'm also having a look at tariffs... hmmm.

Either that, or an E65 + PDA of some description. I have no idea what sort of PDAs are available at the moment.

What about an O2 XDA? The Exec will do everything you want and is 3g / wifi etc. Might be a bit big though? But if your gonna carry a PDA / Phone around with you anyway why not have just 1 device that does it all?

PDA for work, phone for pleasure/work depending on the day!

I'm so set on the E65 because it's so small (considering to what it offers).

Not much bigger than my V3.

Hey Tom,

Final update:

Of all the voip handsets, the E65 is the smallest and has the best battery life (or so it seems, after about 4 hours of research).

I guess I've made my decision then...
