Weight of a 172 mk2 ph1

Hi guys wot is the official weight of these cars, cause some mags state they weigh jus over a ton but mine states 1285kg, y is it so heavy, how can i make it lighter

just about everything! only left the dash board and 2 front airbags in. replaced the front seats with buckets, all the rear paneling removed, carpet, spare, tool kit, rear seats, seatbelts and a/c.

Almost the same as me - I have take out the front airbag too.

dont forget the alloy bonnet models, thats another 15kg off the weight

WRONG!

172 mk1 is 1035kg and the 172 Cup is 1021kg which is 80,000g less than the 172 mk2 (I have the brochure).

Official kerb weight is 1035kg. In reality it's probably a bit heavier than that. All cars (when weighed at a weighing station) seem to be heavier than their claimed kerb weights.

For example, a friend of mine with a fiesta zetec s got his car weighed, Ford claim 976kg, but his car actually weighed 1040kg.
