Weird Windows problem with checkboxes

  ex Clio 172 owner :(
Installed Windows XP on to a new system build for my girlfriend's pc.

Everything went on fine.

However,

Those little check boxes for things like 'I accept the license agreement' (when you're installing stuff) or 'remember this setting' (when allowing stuff through on your firewall).... well... they're not check boxes.

They've turned into solid black boxes.

It does the same for the little arrows on the menus in Outlook Express.

So basically you can't see if a box has been checked or not and it's a little bit annoying.

Anyone know what could have caused this?

I like things to be perfect.

Cheers.

(Sorry about the large pic - I'll resize it later)

Try uninstalling the graphics driver then rebooting, then try installing the driver from windows update and see if that's any better. If that doesn't help try running SFC. I'm not sure those pics are related to any system files but can't hurt to check they're all there and intact ;) Start > Run > sfc /scannow You might need your XP CD

Have you installed SP2 on yet?

Cheers for help.

Oddly though, for some reason it's fixed itself on it's own.

(Sorry about the pic Griff, meant to change it)
