Yes you can do it, simplest was is using the application called TweakUI from Microsoft. This program lets you access loads of things that you can't normally get to easily and one of the options is to automatically load to the desktop using a particular user account.

I found that an update to .NET framework created a new profile which stopped going straight into Windows.

Try this linkon how to change it in the registry.

Ok just found this which is much easier:

1) Go to the Start Menu and the Run box.

2) Type in the following:

control userpasswords2

now click OK

3) In the new Windows that appears select the account you wish to make the primary logon.

Now uncheck the "Users must enter a username and password..." box.

4) Hit Apply and a dialog box will appear asking you to confirm the selected users password.

Click OK when you are done!

you typing in "control userpasswords2" or just "userpasswords2"?

That is true, this happend to me. All i did was delete the .Net logon account. If you are running more than 1 account XP will automatically stop at the welcome screen for log in. However using just 1 account means it will automatically work and login in.

To delete .net account - Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Select non default one -> Delete account

This will stop the login appearing
