Its also the company I work for that is insurer so hoping I can keep it here.
I have it listed at £6k with my insurer not sure how close to that they’ll get but we’ll see.. 😬Also don't accept their first offer. I got another 25% ontop when they wrote my lupo off

Last time I had a car written off I told them to f**k right off and had it taken to my house.Just make sure you tell the person that collects it that you’ll be buying it back.
Empty it if all your personal belongings and DO NOT give them the V5, service history etc. if they ask for it tell them it’s at your parents house 250 miles away.
If you do end up buying it back as part of the settlement, they’ll deliver it back to you included in the price.
Yeah it’s not too bad really hence why I want to keep it.Last time I had a car written off I told them to f**k right off and had it taken to my house.
I think because their procedure said they had to collect it they were in a right panic, sent an assessor to my house who wrote the car off and then because their computer kept saying they needed to pick the car up and I kept telling them to do one they just kept increasing their offer. Was a long time ago now 10years ish and was an old Sierra, they started at £200 and after a week they were upto £1000...
I just kept saying no and putting the phone down to all their offers and they wanted the case closed asap. I suspect having the car at your place already also makes buying it back, and not having the car knocked about it some pikey yard.
@SharpyClio the damage doesn't look awful, wing, wing mirror, bumper under tray thing? and get the bumper painted?
I missed the fact that the headlight wasn't still thereYeah it’s not too bad really hence why I want to keep it.
by my reckoning,
Replace
- wing mirror
- xenon headlight
- wing
- wheel centre cap
repair
- bumper
- wheel
the rest is okay.
Sub £500 fix easy.
I’ll be stripping down at the front to sort the suspension crunch it’s had so I might just replace all the tracks rods etc at the same time.I missed the fact that the headlight wasn't still there
Sounds like a good plan!
When a car reversed into my front wheel, it bent the track rod end like a banana - so double check that too!
You're kidding aren't you? Some jumped c**t put an iceberg rear bumper up for £150 on here yesterday, so by those prices it's gonna cost 40 grand to fix🤣🤣Sub £500 fix easy.
Luckily I don’t need a front bumper… just a wing and headlight… so £20k…Oh really? I've got a front bumper spare, only £250 to someone in need 👍😂.
Tell them to suck their mumCoPart are a nightmare.... been ringing constantly about collection... half expecting the truck to arrive any minute!

I've always assumed the valuation you put on your policy is the ceiling when it comes to a payout but I'm not so sure now so maybe it will be more.I have it listed at £6k with my insurer not sure how close to that they’ll get but we’ll see.. 😬
Its more of a guide, but they will normally take it from the book value and the valuation taken from a 3rd party assessor, they will provide a range say £3-£8k and the insurer will then probably start with an offer of £3k.I've always assumed the valuation you put on your policy is the ceiling when it comes to a payout but I'm not so sure now so maybe it will be more.
Surely that other guy who got a massive payout didn't have that high a valuation on the policy?
FML… having literally just told them to do one I got this…

that'd definitely put them off theyve been dead for 30 yearsCable tie your nan to it
They sound awful. Just extra stress you could do without.I’ve now hidden the car following more messages and calls from CoPart. What a horrible company, really applying the pressure. They’ve said they’ll be here tomorrow to collect it, I’m going to let them come, waste time and fuel, and then tell the driver the cars not here and they’ve been told it not being collected.
I can’t decide if they’re super aggressive or just badly organised, they’re okay on the phone but the “we’re collecting your car tomorrow” messages are a bit worrying, hence why I’ve hidden the car on the off chance they turn up when I’m out and try and take it.They sound awful. Just extra stress you could do without.

did the feds attend the scene?Think I have managed to see off Copart (which means they will probably turn up later) and Solus have been in touch for a valuation and buy back value. So should have a feel for where I will stand later this week and can look at what I need to do to get it back on the road.
Still no word on liability, I have clearly stated that I am not responsible so we will see where we get to.

so if someone is indicating to turn right, and I decide to overtake them at speed, rather than wait for them to turn it's their fault if we crash.Unfortunately, you're going to be held liable for this. The fact is, he was overtaking and you've pulled into his path. Whether he was doing 5, 10 or 20mph over the limit has no bearing. You've failed to heed his presence and position before making your manouvre.
