what a difference new tyres makes....(and less weight)

  Focus RS Mk1
Blimey, blown away at the moment in the transformation in the cars handling capabilities. (172 FF)

Removed all the sound system from the boot (a lot of weight, sub, 2 amps, box, EQ, wiring, wood, carpets etc) and had new tyres fitted in the form on toyo T1R's. Rears were very dead, fronts were 40% worn. Fronts now on the back and new ones on the front.

Also had all 4 wheels rebalanced and that has taken away the slight vibration i got in the steering wheel at medium speeds.

The addition of new tyres and less weight in the rear has just bought the car back to life. so much more steering feel too. Actually had the car oversteering the other day, mainly down to ice on the road but it felt so manageable.

Going through large puddles this morning the car previously felt skittish, unstable and as if if would break free any moment. Now it feels solid and like deep puddles arent an issue.

Back end feel lighter for obvious reasons but i can sense what its doing more when giving it the berries!

So glad i made the decision to get rid of the tunes in the boot! New tyres were a must but im dead happy!

Just thought id bring it to your attention!

good to hear. I had the same thing when i had new tyres fitted. removing the rear seats will make the car a bit more rear end happy (did to mine) but sounds like u've made some decent improvements.

172 full fat yes. not a cup.

was tempted to try some different tyres this time round but i enjoy the toyo's and its rare that i use them to their full potential so they will do the trick

Good to see you still got the clio sean! surprising that it wore the backs out before the fronts! did it just kill the inside edges?
