What do I do? Insurance wise...

Need help and advice people!

Really not sure what to do.

Basically I'm insured with Brentacre and they charged me £1540 last year with 1 ncb.

Now I've got 2 ncb's the renewal come through today at £1399. Not too bad I thought.

Now..here's the interesting bit.

Rang Adrian Flux, with all the same details obviously and they quoted me £623. Rang HIC (who are owned by Flux apparently) and they matched the quote.

Rang Brentacre back and they said they could do it for £1350 with a 200 bhp limit instead of 180 bhp.

What the hell do I do?

Pay double to stay with a reputable company and not get charged for mods (and I won't because of the bhp limit) with Brentacre and not have to fill any forms for mods/changes etc.

Or go with Flux/HIC who I've heard of no end of problems in all aspects of the insurance through them, pay £25 each time I add a mod on. Pay for bhp increased mods, and have to fill in silly forms all the time!

What would you guys do?!

I insured a 220bhp Glanza V with flux all declared and it cost me £0 extra for each mod.

They are annoying with the forms though, but once you sort it all out they are fine

Depends what mods you've got planned for the next year tbh.

but if you went with Flux you'd have to do a hell of a lot of mods to make up the nearly £700 difference..

+1

I'd definitely be changing insurance companies if the company could half my premium for the following year.

It's a no brainer mate . Go with Flux , plus they guarantee to match any better quote when you get your renewal quote each year . I've been with them for years and never had a problem . They didnt charge me any extra for the my yozzasport exhaust .

Bell quoted me £800

Got a quote with direct line and a £5 m and s voucher for doing so and they quoted me £630.

So i will be changing.

Just had my Greenlight renewal through. Never charged me extra for my mods this year, just had to pay an admin fee which was £25 i think.

£422 with all mods declared. Well happy with that :approve:

i can obviously see the major benefit of going with flux...the price!

but im just unsure as whether to make the jump to them due to amount of paperwork regarding mods and the bad stories you read, especially on here.

i don't think i can go with bell - too many mods, and direct line and greenlight - im still too young i think - i've just turned 20.

with regards to mods, i doubt id make up anywhere near the £700 difference as suggested as above. proper confused!!

Just remember on this (and pretty much all other) forum, you will only tend to see the comments about people having bad dealings with insurance companies...

have you had other quotes apart from the above 3?

Might find one below £1k that's from a "reputable" (if any insurance companies are :rasp:) company.

true. not yet no because of mods and my age im not sure who else to approach.

had problems with admiral when i had my vtr, now have double the mods on the clio then i did with saxo so that admiral/elephant/bell group seems out of the question.

greenlight/direct line too young.

who else does that leave bar the three i've mentioned?

I'd recommend Admiral tbh - just renewed with them on the 197. They originally quoted me more than what I paid last year but I got them down. Was circa £1200, then £1073 for 10 month bonus accelerator. Went online and did a new policy and added both my mum and dad and got it to £993 including extended hire car cover and additional injury cover. After initially thinking it would be a hassle they were easy to talk to and straight forward. I'd give them another go. Either that or try to get written confirmation from Adrian Flux that they won't charge you every time for paperwork. They will do for some items; they all do - just declare all the mods at the same time and you'll only have one price to pay.

i think i'll give flux a call tomorrow to get final confirmation about their policy etc.

i was with admiral before when i had my vtr. it had exhaust, lowered, wheels, and a couple of other bits. tried adding a 206 gti brake upgrade then got told i cant add any more mods to the policy. i dread to think what they'd say now if i listed all of the mods on the clio!

Go with the cheaper one and don't mod it. The 172 is pretty decent as it is.

New insurance paperwork isnt that bad to sort out etc

im same with both companies and claims handling been good, only worry now is that cancelling my policy and they want me to pay all rest of year off because i made a claim, even though it was non fault and cant update as they waint let me but im guessing its because my last car had mods and when i quoted this one (172) it didnt so.

I'd go for the cheapest quote always. At the end of the day insurance is a certificate that allows you to drive on the road. You will eventually get paid out if s**t happens so unless the difference is less than £50 I would always risk the cheaper quote.

well i think im gonna have to go with flux. i just cannot warrant paying all that extra money to stay with brentacre.

spoke to a really helpful chap at flux tonight, and ironed out a few queries - just hope he was telling me the truth!

my premium even came down after i told them about seats, harnesses and strippage!

£578 ftw!
