what do you all rekon? price wise? looks? good deal???

cheers, jez

If you like it after viewing/driving, start at £4,000 and work up! You should at least get it for £4,500

cheers guys! going to drop him an email now and go for a look asap!
better get back to work or the boss will be giving me evils!!

looks good.How many miles?

it says its got 66,000 i think! i'd prefer one with lower miles.. but as i've been informed, if the cambelt has been done then there shouldnt be much to worry about.... yeah?

emailed the seller at lunch asking the usual.. if he's had the belt done been in any crashes etc etc! anyone want to buy a 1997 1.6 astra??? :rasp:

Too true,i'd rather buy one with the belt done on 70k than a 50k one with the same belt

It seams ok to me

thanks! just wanna make sure its not too much for the $$$

now ive just gotta get rid of my old astra:D

Why are you going to go and waste the owners time? you're not in a position to buy because you've got to sell your car :S

I really hate it when people turn up to look at cars (or try and buy anything actually) who then start to string you along by asking you to wait because they need to sell something first to be able to afford to buy what you're selling

Don't go wasting peoples time if you can't turn up with cash and buy it there and then

my car is only worth 500squid so ill probs buy the clio then flog my astra after! that cool?? haha
yeah that car in the other thread is pretty dam similar, same rims aswell!

just had an email back from the seller of the car, he says the cambelt hasnt been done but it's reflected in the price... how much is the work for the cambelt roughly???

check usual like cambelt as said above and insurance

Yes absolutely - nothing worse than getting heart set on something and then finding out insurance is same as the car's value!
I recommend you try Greenlight and Privilege. No-one else could touch them with me. Even Adrian Flux - always good in the past - were rubbish this time round.
I pay £300 full comp (including key cover, breakdown, track day cover, 90 days abroad, no claims protection and legal cover) on my 172 Exclusive, all modifications declared.

Hmmm... 60,000 miles on a 5 year old car. Bang on average miles. So not a low mileage example. Price is reasonable nonetheless if you go by Parkers guide. Depends on where you go, but cambelt job is not cheap. You can get the cambelt itself for around £15... it's just the labour. £250 maybe... maybe a bit more. Depends where you go.

If I were you, I would shop around a bit. With Christmas approaching, lots of people are trying to sell cars. It's mainly the under £1000 cars that sell well as first cars as Christmas presents at this time of year. I think you may well find yourself a tidy (lower mileage than that) example for the same price or less with the cambelt done.
