I have the 42" version of it, had it 5 years, breaks down every year with convergence chips overheating, also have had dry joint problems with it, awaiting a new plasma/or lcd before this christmas, my head is 15 ft away from tv and the picture is ok, and they are light as a feather for 2 to carry, its all plastic and chipboard

They burn in quite easily if you're not careful, my cousin in portugal has one and she's always falling asleep watching Sky etc, one day she woke up and the Sky menu had been on all night and it burnt in pretty bad, you can notice it whilst watching any TV.

It's in the corner of the room so the depth isn't such a problem.

I wouldn't describe trying to get 76KG's upstairs as "light as a feather".

There no way one person can lift it due to its width, so 2 people will lift it easy, its only 38 kilos each, wimp;)

i dont really get the anal thing about "you need to be 15 miles away from this tv to view it properly".

absolute b****cks imo, i have to sit close to tvs anyway as my eyes are s**t, all depends on how you like to view your tv, not what some book tells you where you need to sit

Sorry burst you bubble but you do need to sit a fair bit back from a Rear projection as its not as focused as a plasma, crt, lcd

and trust me 9 ft away from a 42" 1080p tv playing sd is painfull but tbh it sounds as if your eyes are so bad you wont notice lol

my cousins got a 42" plasma, his sofa is about 3 metres from it max and its fine.

still say its down to personal preference

I'm sat about 9/10 foot from my 42" LCD and it's absolutely fine. I wouldn't want to be much further away or I'd want an even bigger TV.

exactly, the entire point of a big ass tv is that its.. well.. a big ass tv. if your gonna buy a bigger tv and "need" to go further and further away from it you might aswell just get a portable and sit with your nose on it.

just a quick question.

how far should you be sitting away from the projector screen in a cinema as obviously using the chairs provided will be piss poor quality with the awful full surround sound.

car park far enough?

its to do with teh display technology and quality of source i could sit 3-4 ft away frrom the 42 when watching hd but sd tv was a no no huge issues with blocking due to low bitrate s**t we get over the air etc

Slight difference between a 20 grand projector than a 600 quid 42" crt RP dont you think, i agree that plasmas / lcd the ratio goes out the window as stated above, but a crt rp will be blurry close up, thats why i'm after a 52" lcd samsung next

I dont understand why everyone gets massive wood about LCD and plasma TV's anyway. The majority of people will spend 80% of the time watching an SD picture, which looks pap compared to a CRT screen.
You walk into comet or similar, some idiot salesman comes upto you with all the cr*p about how it does this and does that, and most non techie people believe they will get that picture with their standard virgin cable.
I got an LCD tv for no other reason than I wanted a big pic to watch films (at 480p), and I tried the 36" crt off of Ebay route, and it ended in tears (those babies weigh 95 odd kg!!)
