I have tried to match up the RMS powers as best as i could find really... think this should be quite good, then get some front component speakers at some point

Much better amplifiers than that out for £200.
Get a JBL one and take the gains easy on it. An amplifer will only output upto whatever the gains are set as...

Also don't forget that they're a dual voice coil sub. So it's either 2 ohm or a 8ohm load. Not as i think you anticipated with the RMS figures on that amp!

Still very expensive amplifiers for class D, with such little ouput.
How about this?

Keep the alpine sub mate IMO, That would put 700 watts into that sub, if you parralleled the voice coils. That would give it enough to get it singing nicely!
Real good sound quality but still a fair boomer at that. The JBL amp has better signal/noise ratio's and it's 60 quid cheaper.
Thats where i would have my money mate:eek:

Well when you buy the sub, it will be in the instruction manual. As the subwoofers vary i can't say for sure.

That gives you the basic ideal. The middle connectors may be included with the subwoofer. So basically the subwoofer is constructed in such a way that it has 2 separae coils. To "share" the wattage across.

So connecting from the +ve side of the amplifer to the positive side of coil 1 then the positive side of coil 2.
Then similarly the -ve side of the amp to the -ve of coil 1 and -ve of coil 2.

As i said, the subwoofer it self may have the connectors, so you don't have to physically wire the coils separatly. However that varies between subwoofers, so i can't say for sure.

ahh ok, cool cheers. If I Have to wire it myself, what do i use? Just some subwoofer speak cable?

Also, do you think that will be a good match, that sub and the JBL amp you recommened?

Cheers

Yes, just some thick speaker cable.
And that match of that alpine sub and the jbl amp, will be sweet, yes!

Except for the generic box... Will not really get the best out of the sub.
Buy it though, could always re-box it up later.
Not as much grunt as the JBL amp, so you will be inclined to crank the gain loads, so just take it easy on the gains..

Get an infinity kappa perfect. you'll pay alot. but mine will beat a 3000watt xplod system. They are AMAZING! trust me. and im only running it with a 400watt amp.
