Fitted an oil temp sensor. Then got a chance to test my 0-60 on the dragy. Totally standard just stripped interior and timed to perfection.

Cracked off the 6 rear beam bolts one at a time ready to begin stripping it all down to treat some rust. I've been soaking them in Plusgas for weeks now which must have paid off because they all freed off fairly easily with a 2' breaker bar, didnt even have anyone holding the heads from the inside. I've been dreading doing it but I'm feeling better about it now, I dont think the fuel tank bolts will be the same, not even recognizable as bolts - they look like mounts of rust.

Bought a cheap and nasty DA and got impatient and didn’t wait for the menzerna to arrive so gave it the once over with some black hole. Wasn’t expecting miracles but I’m pretty impressed.

It’s no way perfect, I’ll probably give it another go over with the menzerna when that turns up next week. For a complete amateur too I’m pretty pleased 👍🏼

Got the anchor (beam) off, I was being cocky saying the bolts were all free as i had to cut 3 off. The bushes have practically no movement in them which would explain the bouncy rear end.

Some ugly rust on the shell that will need some treating.

What DA did you buy? Polishing pads and polish/compound?

Where did you get your brake lines, do they do away with the small flexis on the rear of the beam?

@DomP182 they are a proline motorsport (before they were bought over) 6 line kit, so it consisted of 2 x front lines, 2 x chassis to rear beam lines and 2 x rear beam to caliper lines; the 4 rear lines replace the 2 rear flexis and rear beam-caliper hard lines.

As I said it’s a cheap nasty one from eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/113936178326
It comes with a few pads but the one I used the backing disintegrated after washing so had to throw it away 😂
Towards the end it was quite warm and it chucked grease all over me 🤣 so it’s probably not going to last very long.

I ordered menzerna 3 in 1 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143143500501 but it hasn’t arrived yet so I used Chemical Guys Black hole instead.

Oh arse! Guess who just snapped a fuel tank bolt🙁 the outer two are very corroded to the point I can get a 12mm socket on the head.

Got the tank out, not as bad of a job as I thought really and that was a half full tank on my own, did snap one bolt off though.

Bit more rust than I'd hoped for and some of it in inaccessible places, any good ideas other than scraping as best I can then drenching in Hydrate 80?

Wire wheel on a drill, hydrate 80 then underseal.
