What heat shield to use on bulkhead?

  RB 182
Just gauging people’s opinions and experience on using the stuff.

We will either get the rigid nimbus stuff or adhesive fabric. Our existing bulkhead “carpet” was all burnt and covered in oil when we had the engine problem, looking for the best solution for our track car. Not bothered about acoustic noise etc, just to keep the heat off the brake lines and cockpit.

Mike,

I have just been out to the garage to have a quick measure. 450 will get us covered from the bottom of the black bulk head cover all the way down to the rack. So 450 x 500 looks fine to me. Might aswell get it ordered.

I got some glass fibre backed aluminium material for mine as it says it can handle 500deg contact temp and 1000deg radiant temp.

Why is this stuff better or is it only the asthetics that are better?

For £20+vat I may have to get some anyway.

Got it for £20 + vat and added to an order I placed Monday (free delivery) from Tweeks......

Was this with a big order? I'm a bit miffed by the random quotes tbh. Tweeks are normally very good on price and delivery charges... He said it would be £7 odd to package due to the sheet needing protection.

Sorry just seen this yeah over 1K (2 pr gloves, 4 race race suits etc (4 for sizes will send 2 back))...though I still had to pay £1.50 for some stickers, their decal sheet, tow, power etc.

Got 10-15% off everything.

Though I've bought loads from there over the last year, 4 oz wheels + a048's, cage, omp wheel, boss, harnesses.

Oh, thanks for that. Was going to fit it this weekend. I'll hold off and get some of this stuff then.

Cheers

Got the cloth version fitted on mine. Bought from Merlin Motorsport at Castle Combe. Working just fine for several months and easy to fit using the bulkhead bolts/screws. Cheaper than the other stuff.
