What pc would you look at buying or building if you had 1k to spend.

All i use mine for is the internet and gaming. But mainly gaiming.

Any ideas?

Don't mind building my own but i have lost touch over the years with cpu specs, speeds, sockets etc.

Also would like a 22inch lcd screen :approve:

  Monaro VXR
Intel platform Core 2 E6750
Intel P35 mobo
2gb DDR2 memory.
8800GT or GTX depending on money
probably go with a samsung panel with 2ms response think it is the 226.

Half decent case and PSU

Should do you fairly well. Other option is to go with a 680i based nvidia board and put 2 8800gt's in SLI which would run pretty much anything and they are fairly cheap cards. (I would probably go with this option myself)

try a company called crystal technology. google crystech. they are very good.

Cracking spec computers, very cheap and they will deliever within 5 working days usually!

The first price you see isnt including VAT mind so always add on 17.5% but even then you can get a quad core with a 22" monitor, 640mb 8800 and vista ultimate for about £1k

Spec it out, give them a call and you can haggle a bit more off the price as well!

This is what I would go with in your budget...well slightly over.

CPU Intel Q6600 quad core.

And if you have an extra £200 to spend chuck another graphics card and some more memory.

CPU can be over clocked to the 3.4 - 3.6ghz mark without much trouble. So the system would last a while. And if you have a bit more cash spare drop another 2gb of memory in and whack in another 8800GT graphics card. Will have yourself one very powerful machine.

The 8800GT is the card to buy though not the GTS which is slower than the GT. GTX and Ultra are quicker but not by very much. You could knock a bit of cash off that system with smaller hard drive etc. And will obviously need a keyboard, Mouse and speakers extra. Also no optical drives but they are cheap as well. DVD burners can be had for £20.

Does come to around £1050 there + delivery.
