What rear speaker upgrade for Clio 182?

Noticed my rear speakers are farting a bit, and you know, any excuse for an upgrade :approve: what's out there? I run an Alpine headunit with sub and bridged amp so they would be running off the headunit which is 4x 60w.

Even though I've got the Alpine headunit I don't rate them that much for speakers as I ripped apart one of their Type-R subs! And it wasn't even a very powerful amp running it... might be worth a shot though. Any others?

My rear speakers are farting like mad aswell. Im looking into JL audio for that bit of extra thump over my infinitys in the front

Easy to swap? How about padding to avoid rattles?

Ridiculously easy to swap - I haven't changed them in my current clio, but I did in my previous 172.

Had a set of SPG-13CS speakers in the front and the C2s in the rear. The fronts were a bit evil as the dash had to come off to replace the tweeters, but luckily I left it with Alpine UK's tech / fitter to sort it :D

This has been covered loads before but go on eBay and search for 13cm Pyle mid bass driver. That'll be perfect, and cheap as chips.

Oh and take your rear covers off first and make sure it's not them making the noise, mine rattles like hell so I put double sided tape along all edges that came in contact with another bit of plastic, job done.

Cheers mate yeah I've had the covers off for the last week and it's still doing it! Maybe I could figure out a way to stop the noise but it's one of those things where I kinda just wanna chuck money at the problem rather than sit there and work it out lol... too many of those going on right now.

I'm in the same position, I might strip the interior and put everything back in with rubber washers and double sided tape! Have you pushed the speaker cone in? If it feels gritty then they're shot, but I'd replace them anyway. I've recommended those speakers quite a few times, they're the best bang for buck out there, plus not having a voice coil it will help bring the sound stage further forward.

Is it even worth it, upgrading the rear speakers? In a Clio wouldn't you be better just upgrading the HU and components then amping them? Who cares about rear seat passengers anyway, it's all about the driver!

It is worth upgrading the rears but only to mid bass IMO. You will lose the surround of 4 speakers though, which is the soundstage. In an ideal world you want the soundstage up front to sound like everything's coming from in front of you. When you go to see a band play live, the speakers are placed on the stage, so the music comes from in front of you, and you want to replicate this in your car/home.

Do you enjoy the sound of people farting in the rear seats?

I removed my rear seats so I had an excuse not to carry more than one passenger, and nobody farts in my car, NOBODY!! ;)

That said, I know what you mean, and I'm in the same situation, my left rear is fizzing away. I plan to just disconnect them - they're so weak compared to the quality I have up front, I'm not sure the benefit of upgrading them will be enough for the cost of getting decent ones.
