what size bolts + nuts (if any nuts) for exhaust hangers?

  CBR1000RR Fireblade
my 182 came witth a poo flow custom exhaust, unfortunately the person who fitted the exhaust has altered the standard hangers and modified them so my RS192 wont fit.

i have all but resolved the problem now except for one small issue. the bolts that attach the exhaust hangers;

are missing, its the bolts that go through the holes in the hanger in the picture. what size are they and is it a bolt nut and washer or just a bolt that fastens the hangers in position?

thanks

Not sure on size but couldnt you obtain a set from the local scrapyard, I'm sure there generic across the models

I had a look at mine the other day, and I would have said they were M8 x 1.25, I doubt they are any bigger mate but you never know. M8 is the most common size though. I wouldn't know the length but probably not too long...

so the holes are already tapped?

thanks for the info, i have loads of m8 stuff knocking about so happy days. if not ill be re drilling to fit 10mm bolts and square washers to spread the load to increase hanger life

I wouldn't bother re-drilling, i expect they are nut rivoted...so i you drill it out the hole nut will come out from inside the boot. To increase the load just use large strong washers.
Does that make sense?

Ive had the triangular metal brackets off mate. There are no nuts on other side of the plates. It's just a hole. From what I can gather they are 8mm taped holes?

thanks mate, are the holes taped then or is a nut and washer required at the other side ?

They're threaded holes - you dont need any nuts

Mine were rusty as hell when I took my hanger off at the weekend so if you haven't had any bolts in for a while I'd suggest getting an M8 tap and tap them out so they're nice and clean, then put a bit of copper grease on the new bolts

They're most likely M8 x1.25 but you might want to check the thread

thats that sorted, no nuts needed. i bought the car with this s**t exhaust installed so i dont know how long the bolts have been missing. i have an M8 tap so thats a win and the bolts i now know are M8 and 1 1/4 long (ish) im off to b and q to get some seen as renault are not open today

from what i could see on mine the nuts are welded in position , however one of mine decided to break off and start spinning so had to get the dremel out to cut the bolt

if it waants to play silly buggers ill attack it, drill everything out and use m10 gear to bolt the hangers in position

im waiting for the hangers to be delivered now, if i would of known i would of bought them else where
