What The Hell Were Renault Thinking When Designing The 182 Engine Bay?

  Audi TT 3.2 V6
Just been to check my oil etc...

Seriously what were they thinking? Jesus its hard get your arm down to grab the dipstick, but what’s worse than that is checking...let alone topping up your break fluid.
I had the remove the engine cover, see the brake fluid is hidden low which made checking difficult, i ended up shining a torch on it after cleaning the reservoir up, realise it was below minimum and ended up trying to find a funnel to allow me to top the bloody stuff up lol.

Barmy....rant over :D

Other than that...what a machine :)

if ur brake fluid is that low, then ur pads may be about to go metal to metal, should never really top brake fluid up as the level will go back up when u have new pads:)

car does need new rear disks and pads, infact i have them sitting hear waiting to be fitted. Front's dont need doing but ive ordered brembo max front disks and just waiting for my renault front pads to arrive.

ill just bleed some fluid of before changing the pads, its no meither...it just didnt like seeing the fluid level below min. it upset me lol

You should try replacing a lower radiator hose in that bay or a clutch cable, Complete c***s of a job those.

It's the clip that goes from inside the car to the engine bay, took me over an hour to get that off. Same with the clips that go on the heater matrix, they where the hardest part.

spring clips?

When i was at ford we had a special tool for doing those, was an absolute doddle.

Hope u put a jubilee clip on instead

No the two black clips that connect the hose to the heater matrix, two pipes that head from engine bay to inside the car.

Yeah Jubilee clips on the radiator now, woo.

I'm loving the 172 engine

much smaller than the mk1 F7 series :D

I've got loads of room in comparison

Changed my pads at the weekend and me and my dad spent ages lookin for the brake fluid reservoir. That'll teach me to check CS guides next time ;) Got my b*****d arm stuck while checkin the oil too, watch got stuck!

ye think clio bulbs are hard to change, try changing a meganes. either in through wheel arch by act of contortion or take the bumper off

Do you think it would be a bit easier if we sat on the same side of the car as the French intended? One of the reasons why I want to go Jap next - at least their cars were designed from the ground-up to be right-hand drive!

Bit tight in the RS engine bay but some cars are definately much worse....at least you can see the engine, dipstick and oil filter, mosy new cars are covered in plastic.

My thoughts exactly, When lowering a F7P/R into a Mk1, the room on the left is probably about an inch and the room at the Gbox end is probably about an inch and a half maybe. It's tight as a nun's chuff
