what to do with my 172

  recaro'd 172 rep
put ur self in my position. ive had a silver 172 with 65000 miles.
its in immaculate condition but its a previous cat c repair.
just had the alloys refurbed and it looks mint but insurance is ridicioulous and i cant afford to have it sitting there.

realisticly would you sell how it was or break it?

  Maybe a 172 Cup..
What history etc mate, any pics of damage before repair? Both important if someone selling Cat C imo.

Depends how much you already have in car as to decision IMO. If less than £1k may make a little selling as whole. ie around £1200. If you already have £1100+ in it, probably break it, if you can handle all the Pm's. If you decide to sell my advice would be, be realistic with price, and it will sell.

I know it's bad crack and I wouldn't do it but you can always choose to play ignorant. It's upto the person buying the car to do all the checks etc. Over the years I've hpi'd cars and come back crashed damaged when the owner hasn't advertised them as that. If the car was repaired properly and not Bodged ya don't have anything to worry about. It's a cheapish car not a Ferrari.

Awesome.

Don't insure it either. Waste of time.

No one else insures their car, right?

if you wouldn't do it yourself then why hint at someone else to do it?

Massively stupid post if you ask me :dapprove:

How in any way does that make any sense. I wouldn't do alot of things personally but doesn't mean they can't be suggested.

You're post just rose to the top of the stupid pile and no 1 asked you.

Is it law that you have to declare that a car is a cat c or d??

Surely many people own these cars without even knowing the history

Nice Kev,

How about this OP, you could also advertise it, and when they come to view it, stab them and steal their money.

I wouldn't do it, but plenty would.

Lol, why recommend something that you don't agree with? Bit of a scumbag thing to suggest. Just because you'd clearly be happy to rip someone off who has mistakenly placed trust in you, no need to sow your seed of evil on here! :)

I'm sorry cs are too niave and small minded to accept what goes down in the real world. But the OP asked for suggestions and I gave him 1 if you or I agree with it or not. I see the same advice given to people post after post without any other perspective. I'm just not bothered about following the other sheep.

If someone asks you ''is it HPI clear'' and you lie, then thats illegal.

If they don't ask you, you're not legally obliged to tell them.

Well done Daniel for clearing that up. A normal person when buying a car does a hpi check, if you don't then it's you're fault for taking the risk.

But all the idiots came out the wood work again sprouting murder etc.

is £1200 a good price for a full conversion? engine box everything for a 1.2 conversion?
just itl be easier to shift the lot than bits i think so if anybody thinking of a conversion pm me lol

Ohhhh so aslong as your not breaking the law, that makes it morally justifiable! That's certainly cleared that up!

when did i say it was. i clearly stated in my first post that i wouldnt do it. now put youre tampon back in youre points are invalid and i was right. lol loser

You're saying that the blame lies with the person, who for whatever reason does not HPI a car and not the person concealing the fact it's been damage/repaired. Lol just because you said 'but I wouldnt do it' as a get-out clause or whatever, it's pretty clear that you would!

My objection clearly isn't registering with you! Going back to my earlier point, just because the lawful responsibility lies with the buyer to do a HPI check (yes I do know that fact!) doesnt make it ok, morally, to sell a car knowing it's cat d or whatever and not disclose it unless asked! Is that clear enough for you? And yes, blame/responsibility are different!

It was never not clear. Read my first post. Where do I say this is morally right? At all intact. Knowhere.

Oh god. I give up, this is going nowhere. Just because you say one thing, doesn't mean other things can't be inferred about what you really think.

although it may be worth it you can buy a conversion for alot less.. think i have spent under £450 on my conversion and that was from diesel to a petrol 172.

you will be better of selling the engine + box on there own then do like a conversion kit which includes
full loom ( inside + out) , uch, ecu, key chip+ decoder ring, drive shafts ,engine mounts

always alot of people looking for bodykit packages for replica's ( saw some one on here ask for one recently)
then you have all the other little trims etc which seem to sell well.
