What wax to get for this shitty turn of weather lol

  Mazda Mx5 + Clio 172
Had my car detailed the other week by JD, looks amazing now! Was waxed at the time with Nattys blue - looks great and am gonna re wax with nattys b4 trax but wondering now what wax to get for the winter season? Any suggestions????

Also when I do come to re-wax her for trax, should i just wash dry and wax? or should i run her over with some clay first???

Thanks in advance :rasp:

You won't need to clay again so soon, save that for after Winter in Spring 2011.

Wax wise, for durability, you will struggle to better Collinite. Everyone goes for 476S, but my personal preference is 845 as it's far easier to use, and looks a touch 'wetter'. Another good choice for Winter is Finish Kare 1000P, but I'm not so keen on its sterile look on darker cars.

I'm ordering fk1000p with it's 425 QD i'll let you know how I get on.

I put 3 coats of 476 on at the start of December, sometimes earlier depending on the weather and it'll last till Febuay easily. I use it on my wheels all year round. Brake dust just washes off.

i used 1 layer of fk1000p 7 weeks ago and used fk425 at last stage of wash every week since then and it still beads really tight, cant knock this stuff, its awesome and great value for money

How often do you apply to your wheels?

Cheers mate, really liking the look of the 425 can't wait to try it and the fk1000p might fire a wax over the top of the 1000p!

Pretty much everytime I wash them, once a week, only takes like 2minutes just whack it on really. Take longer if you have the wheels off and you're doing the inners and stuff. (mine need done) :(

You serious?

fk1000p with it's 425 QD The Detailing products of hero's IIRC

Top Choice have been using this combo for the last 12 months and they are both great products (425 Smells like bubble gum to Mmm)

Easily get 5 Months + protection from the 1000p, more if your using the 425 as top ups during your wash stage.

As Russ says it gives a very Sterile clinical look, but on my Iceberg, It looks great.

I find collinites the same, dulls the finish slightly with it's durability you sacrifice some looks during the worse weather really.

Very excited aboput using the FK now. Hows the 1000p easy on off? Cure a little? Do you bother topping it with any wax?

Very easy on off if you don't shovel it on. It needs 20 minutes to cure then should just wipe off. 2 layers is best. Layering it up with FK's Pink Wax leaves a superb finish...

The QD is okay, but Optimum's is better!

Try Colli 845 on wheels, especially if you're putting it on weekly (!!) That said, again, 1000P is better really.

3M Marine Wax is another dark horse...

Ah! I give the tailpiope and autosol everyweek and a little srp. I'll fire the 476 on it. It's old and get's used for the dirty tasks.

I'll have a gander at the pink wax Russ cheers.
