What would it take to fit Accord Type R (same as trophy?) seats into a 172?

  172
i would have thought its a matter of buying some recaro frames to fit the clio, then bolting these to them, Im sure that'll be the case.

Good find tho Len...

They dont fit. A few people have tried iirc. When recaro fit these seats as origianl equipment in cars, like these and evo's, the subframes are tailored to the car...... you cant jusy go and buy a clio subframe hoping they will fit, as all the seat mounts are diffrent to off the shelf recaro (it stops people doing waht you want to do) :( Think colin g tried in his v6 with no success.

colin i am not disagreeing with you, i understand you tried this and failed.

But i bet you could get a fabricator to dismantle the seats and make you some subframes to fit, i know a place in york that would take this on.

be would they be crash tested for strength etc? Yes anything can be done, but is it safe? ;)

So what exactly is different?

surely just the bolt holes/spacings which can be re-drilled or is the under side of the seat completely different?

Done it, decided to use the stock subframes though could have bought generic ones or Recaro ones - I like a challenge though ...

Here are some pics (of the drivers side install) ...
