whats fastest a 172 cup or a 182 or 182 cup

just want to know i have heard the 172 cup is the lightest clio sport made and its the only one that is a full on track day car also the 182 cup still has abs tc cc and air con so can just 10 bhp make it faster

Their basically all the same.... the only difference between any of these cars realistically is driver involvement and whether of not its a 'good' car. So then some 182s are faster then 172s and some 172s faster then 182s. Round a track of continuous bends i think its fair to say the trophy lol
 
Round a track i'd say the Cup would win but not by much.
A good engined 172 would be as quick as a slower cup assuming the same driver etc. There so close.
On some tracks the trophy is slower than the 182 Cup.

Duhh, no engine from any manufacturor makes exactly the same power.

This ignores the driver.

Lol... yeah, that was what my original point was, its just that he said on some tracks.

But even though there are going to be differences in performance, surely almost all trophys would be slightly quicker on track then the others due to their increased handling. Like when we say " we'd have them in the twisties" about faster cars" lol

Edit: Unless by "some tracks" he meant one with very few corners, in which case i apologies.

Think i will just pipe down now. lol

I was particulaly pointing to the track and race car circuit who managed to get a 182 Cup round slightly quicker than the thropy and thats got bends. The difference between them can be ignored IMO due to variation in built.

There is hardly anthing between them in terms of performance (straight line) and how fast they can get round a track

Ok, to try be impartial, even though i own a cup...

In the dry a cup is quickest, as has best power to weight ratio.

In the wet id say the trophy is quickest.

But were talking about fractions of a second to sixty, and only a few seconds round a track, so lets all just be friends!
 
I believe that (paper) figures put the power/weight at;

172Cup 170
182trophy/Cup 167
182 165
172 154

Based on those figures, only the 172 would trail slightly, but remember we are talking tenths, and there's probably be no difference on the road. A good driver would pwn them all in a 1.2 Corsa.

Except the 172 which is obviously just slow.

types r's only 0.2 seconds quicker than a 172 cup so would be down to the driver,theyve got a bit more bhp but less torque.cups beter on track.

type r civics look ming maybe 2 points of a second quicker but you have to put up with ur car looking like a door wedge i think the mk2 clio is so much nicer
