Seems hell of alot of money like ya say , and thats without fitting , £360 + vat on top to get it fitted

If you go for itb's usually you just rebuild the engine as well, with new cams, head work, pistons and rods maybe, then depending on what you do and spend, you will be looking at an average of 225bhp, which for the little clio is quite good.

but that would take the whole job to £5-7K ! nearly turbo money and deffo supercharger money.

It sounds to me like its an easy bolt on option for the not so serious. I imagine your Renault warranty would still be void with this "soft" kit.

Might just as well go the whole hog and have the lot done.

  EK9 + Mfactory gearing..
tb's give 30-40lbft ish & 50bhp ish, so not bad for the money, hardly a soft kit either. roamers standard 172 ran 212bhp & 170lbft after tb's were fitted, so with a few other mods good results are to be had.

Well it all depends what you gonna use the car for. say you bought the car like me, 9k, spend another 9k, total 18k, on track there is virtually no competition for that bracket, turbo is good and fun, but NA is sometimes underestimated.

^^^^Thats very true, but if you fit a quaife 6 speed or jericho you overcome that, only thing with a turbo car is you better leave a cheap weak point and i am saying that from experience.

your quoting ktecs prices for a start! my Jenvey set-up with Emerald ecu inc all accessories (injectors, trumpets etc etc) cost a smidge over 2k. a few hours fitting and loom making later, and your ready for mapping....

The t/b's clio actually impress in the flesh.....the other 200+ mk2s have'nt impressed imo

Agree

End up with quite a good power/weight ratio if you go over 200bhp

A good ITB setup on a stock 172/182 will nick the 210-215bhp margin with everything else catered for.

i dont quote prices, but i dont normally get caught up in nonsense about figures.

Just correcting that 220bhp is impossible on stock engine.

so wind your neck in

The problem with going turbo is the weak gearbox. Expect to do one a year by all accounts.

Sorry for the question, I'm a noob in this forum...

What options are available in the aftermarket to upgrade the gearbox for turbo or supercharger power (300Nm+)?
How about the one on the Megane RS or new Clio RS?
...or a custom setup?

Megan RS won't fit as the Megans got the new big block F4R you could swop the block and gearbox and use the 172/182 head but then you've got to mount the engine the mounts are different plus that megan RS box is bigger so you might have trouble getting it all to fit and be nicly balenced (Fred on here is trying to fit the engine in his car).
The new RS Clio is the same big block f4R engine.
Bet gearbox upgrade is to chnage engines to something with a better box ie Civic type R or a VAG engine. the only other option is a Sadeev sequenchal gearbox as used in the race cars but its not realy usable ever day.
The gearbox isn't to bad at holding power there one abroad running close on 400hp but its the abuse and changing gears which will kill it.

Thanks for your input edde.

This year I'm planning to buy the new Clio RS and will later on try to fit an Eaton MP62 supercharger good for some 300bhp+ and maybe up to 300Nm+ torque with some other mods. Will have to deal with lowering compression, beefing up internals (pistons, rods, new cams), custom intake manifold, free-flowing exhasut, fueling and engine management upgrades also.
At this point I'm just doing research...

I read around on some specsheets that the Clio's new 6-speed gearbox holds only up to 220Nm. Since you mention the new Clio RS has the same big block F4R as the Megane RS, I guess a swap to the beefier NDO gearbox (300+Nm) on that Megane could be possible.

Any comments?

Blimy thats a project I'd love to see come to birth.
240Nm the box is good for (same as the 105 dci Clio box)
