Wheel size and acceleration

How much acceleration would you gain if you went down a wheel size ie 15 to 14s? How much would you gain if you also reduced the weight of the wheels?

I thought the reason the mk1 172 is faster than the mk2 is that the mk1 only has 14s while the mk2 has 16s?? am i wrong?

My 1.2 is sooo much faster with 14s than my 17s.

If you are going from 17s to 14s then ye.. but 1 inch aint gonna make much difference, especially if the tyres are lower profile ont he bigger wheel too.

What about dropping weight and going for some super light alloys? Isnt unsprung weight worth twice the reduction of sprung weight? What are the weight of Willy alloys?

willy wheels are fairly light as std.

Reducing unsprung weight really is more beneficial for the suspension dynamics as it imposes less restrictive force upon movement. In terms of how much youll gain in acceleration, not much, its not really noticeable at all.

not worth the money youll spend.

500-600 quid on nice alloys, when thatll get you a fantasticly flowed cylinder head that youll really notice the gains from.

its not just the size of the wheel, its also the size of the tyre u put on the wheel, for instance, my car has 185/60/13s and hav just got sum 14s to put on, if i put 185/55/14s on then the outer diameter of the two different wheels are almost identical so wont effect performance. they are actually 0.2% bigger so wen the speedo says im doin 60. i wil actually be doin 60.8 or summet.

sorry for the esay lol
