wheel wobble after fitting spacers? (only one side though??)

hey guys, bit of a weird one but just fitted a stud conversion, nuts and 10mm spacers, and my passengers side front wheel has developed a minute wobble, its confusing the crap out of me :/

it is barely noticeable, but every now and then the steering wheel seems to wobble/pull slightly to the left and becomes more noticeable the faster you go, but isn't noticeable on some roads...

i have checked the wheel bolts (all tight with no play), the studs have no play that i can tell, and the tracking is fine?

can someone enlighten me?

no just 10mm spacers with extended studs... I have been worried about something like this before the stud conversion but all nuts had a fair bit of thread lock,

honestly cant seem to locate it

although I might just be imagining it mind haha

Even money says the wheel isnt mounted quite right. Take the spacers off and run it. I bet the problem vanishes.

I put money on the spacer not being central, have the same issue with 5mm spacers on the BMW. If they're not near enought central when the wheel goes off it acts like an imbalance and makes the wheel wobble.

its the reason I haven't taken my wheel off to change a wishbone because I cba with the cooking spacers!

surely the studs will put the spacers central (and the spigot)...

will try without, cheers

My universal spacers centre bore is bigger than the bore on the hub so they will never sit 100% straight. Yours must be the same

The studs only act to hold the wheel to the face of the hub. It's the spligots job to centralise the wheel (s) and take the vehicles weight.

Technically the tapers on the studs SHOULD pull it central, but I guess the forces on the wheel when driving it wont be enough, like the others said, your better off with hubcentric spacers anything over 5mm

nope, the centre bore is perfect 60.1

The wheel obviously isn't sitting on th hub properly as they're not hubcentric

This is why you buy hubcentric spacers.

Pictures of the spacers ;)

cheers guys, il update this thread tomorrow once I have had the wheel off and got pics

oh as an added note, that wheel doesnt have a spigot ring and has a larger centre bore (never came with the wheel and ran fine with no problems before the spacers were fitted)

If the center bore is bigger than the hub and you hit a big pot hole, the wheel bolts are taking ALL of the impact...
Youll probably be ok, but personally I wouldnt want to risk it..

turns out that the spigot on the spacer was flimsy and had broken off leaving a bit between the wheel and spacer, i have since removed this bit, checked the spacer for damage and re-assembled it all, so should be solved now, took it for a 2 second drive around the block and it seemed to have cured it.

but I will know for definite tomorrow when I go for a proper drive

thanks for the advice guys

Right it only seems to get weirder.... I have removed both spacers as the wheel still seemed to be wobbling... I have checked the track rods, anti roll bars, driveshaft etc, and the only thing that has signs of wear is the ball joint on that side but there isn't a huge amount of play in it....

I'll be replacing the ball joint soon but I had 2 new front tyres at the same time as the coversion etc... is there any chance that it is due to the wheel not being balanced properly?
