Where’s all my power gone

Fitted the Viper yesterday and took it for a test drive initially very happy with it round town as I came out of town noticed that the car was very breathless in 2nd and when in low revs had very little power when I put my foot down. It took till about 4.5 before the car caught and took off. I have lost masses of power lower down and you can imagine am little peeved at this. :(

I have used the old pipe and placed it into the new opening of the IK. Obv have done something wrong and am not tech enough to know exactly what. Can someone let me know where I have gone wrong? Have done a search but I cant find a good answer.

cheers as I am v confused:confused: will have to put the std air filter back otherwise.

Its the weather.

My Williams is noticably sluggish.. in all gears...

Got an induction kit fitted with cold air feed pipe.. and its just sucking in warm/hot air.. which is no good. Sounds good.. doesnt go good. It was *MINT* when it was colder tho.. heh.

Need the original airbox really..

Vipers are enclosed tho, arnt they?

its getting too much hot air.........could be weather, could be from engine bay if its an open IK.

this means air is less dense, blah, blah----less power

Ok guys, come on.... if you read this for a sec youll see he says its a viper, the vipers are closed, carbon fibre shielded kits, with a cold air feed.

Ok Gee Cup, Id say youre fuel mixture is up the spout, now first off, try a reset of the "temporary" map in the ecu, turn engine off, turn key to position 2 (All lights on dash) put accelerator all the way to the floor and all the way off five times..... then turn off ingition for 30 seconds plus, then restart and see how it is then mate, if it gets instantly better then goes crap again defo fuel issue and a remap will sort it. Also make sure your pipe run isnt snagging on anything which could cause it to split the pipework and suck hotter engine bay air in.....

:)

come on, all the people just have the wrong concept, for the viper induction kit, what it do is improve your high rev power, so you get more top speed power........ if you want low to mid range power, go for a replacement panel filter..... I knew this because I tried oth the replacement panel filter as well as the viper on my 172.....

Ive had a viper on my car as well (As many on here know) and I didnt have any drop in power, but I did have it checked and remapped as I did think it would have kicked the afr out of sorts.

well somepeople have the wrong idea about everything it seems a viper will improve power across all the rev range you just need a remap to sort it as it sucks in far too much air and makes it weaker than my resolve at resisting pussy

i chipped the car too, that may help....... but really, in theory, thats what IK do, improve high rev..... i think it push the whole torque curve back as well as increasing power at the peak rpm......

Back? back to where?

Better/colder airflow is better/colder airflow at whatever rpm though

erm why would an induction kit loose you torque ?????? if its been mapped properly and not by a blind mongoose with epilepsy then there will be more power everywhere as the map will have been changed to cope with the extra air at all points in the rev range

From my testing the viper gained power, and thus torque, at all rpm points, with several high peaks of between 6-10bhp.

THis was before teh remap and outside temps were about 37 deg C, tests done with bonnet closed.

ALso before the remap.

You all know i dont bullsh*t.

I cant see how you installed it incorrectly either, especially if using the OE link pipe. Its only 2 jublee clips.

you say youve used the old pipe. that may be your problem. bin the old pipe and route a viper cold air feed pipe to the front of the car somewhere so it gets a good supply of cold air. do a search as there have been many pics posted about routing of air pipes before.
