which alloys should I buy?

  clio 5door sport rep
hi guys

Thinking of ditching my black dynamique alloys and getting either anthracite 182 alloys or some other 16" aftermarket alloy.... Preferably 5 spoke.

can anyone recommend any? Photos would also be good

only thing putting me off 182s is that I'll need to buy new tyres to properly fit my 16v non sport.... overall cost incurred buying used 182s and tyres or completely new alloys with tyres will be more or less the same so I'm torn...

Cheers

182 wheels will look ridiculous if it's standard, but what do I know....

Why would you need to buy new tyres if you bought 182 wheels...? Most wheels for sale come with tyres.

Have you checked with your insurance ? I'm assuming you're young and they will probably want more money from you.

182 tyres are too wide and will rub if
I have folk in the back which I regularly do. Not too young. 27

budget is around 400 500 quid intotal including tyres I think.

182s on a standard Clio look bad? only reason I fancy them is because I seen old photos of cros Clio (5 door 182 ;) and I think it looks mint.

sc03ott recommended spacers with the 182 alloys and tyres to avoid rubbing but I'm paranoid they'd start rubbing the arches.... arghhhh why can decisions about your car not be simple

I dont think it will work as you've (presumably) not got the wings/skirts to go with it.

If you put lower profile tyres on it will look even more ridiculous without adding some lows. Someone did this on here a short while back, it was the funniest car related picture I've seen in a while (goes off to find it... I think it was orange or something?! someone will remember) !

Apologies on the age, still worth a phonecall as you don't want to find out you're uninsured in the event of an incident :)

Not quite. I said I think hub-centric spacers are the ones to go for if you do in fact need them. I'm not 100% sure if they are necessary :) .

yeah agreed with the insurance... Can't see it being a problem. so you reckon 182 will look s**t? What about if I drop it 35mm? what should I do then alloy wise... If Aftermarket is a no go and 182s a no go what options I have? Cheers

buy the orange f1's in the for sale section you will need lows to pull it off!

Can't see the point in changing wheels, especially on a bog standard car. Just my opinion.. do what you want ;)

Only cars I've ever changed wheels on have been my Imprezas... green one because they were too big (18" to 17"), and the silver one is now sporting those 17s because the standard 16s will not fit over the Brembos.

I'd just be going for the 16s from the 172 myself. Keep it OEM, but they look nicer being a little bigger. The problem is though, I'd probably then want to lower it a little.
