Hi - probably getting myself a clio soon. Has to be 2L model as borrowed my friends and had a hoot. Just one question......do I get a high miler 182 (70k+) or a lower milage 172? if the 172 is the best route then the mrk1 or mrk2?, what about the cup version?
(sorry 3 questions after all)

hello mate,

first of all not sure how much money you have to spend

but in my personal opinion unless your really into extra features like the twin exhaust and 182 style wheels then you might as well settle for the 172 mk2 and even mk1.

Before i puchased my mk2 172 a month ago i test drove from a dealership a 182 with all the cup packages under the sun, i mean this thing was so fully loaded (from manufacturer) the previous ower put a tracker on it.

Then i test drove my 172 and i must say it was what i expected. There was no difference in performance what so ever. i Didn;t expect there to be any differents with only 10bhp.

This brought me down to choosing between 172 mk1 or mk2. I obviously went for the mk2 because of the interior and the exterior look. Again other than that performance wise there is no difference same lump. Ok they are difference in some ways but only to make them perform the same due to wieght etc not to improve one above the other.

SO thats how i came down to a 172 mk2. Hope that helped you out a bit.

Try and be lucky and whatever you pick cross your fingers and hope its a good one!

I have a 172 mk2 2003 model, leather, climate etc. And its great. One of the most reliable cars I've had, build quality is good, finish good. Really happy and had it a year.

Spin round twice and you'll hear all sorts of horror stories on here. Its a bit of a lottery unfortunately.

........like Russian Roulette!!!

personally would say, less miles the better.

less miles the better is usually the case, but you find an absolute minter with a few more miles... i used to love the look of ph2 172's, but i am really really liking the ph1 172... thats why i have got a megane?! LOL!!!! PH1!!!!!!!! and they're quicker lol
