If you're not going to use it for gaming AND you say you don't want a graphics card what do you need a "superduper" computer for?

Just trying to establish what it's going to be used for..

basically my dad copies onto dvds for photographic customers. His current dell desktop coped well but obviously workload has shot up and it cant cope with the copy speed. Also since its doing that (not a duel core) his other applications cant run. His 16x writer is currently functioning at 1.23x. How its become so low i dont know.

So basically he wants a fast/dvdwritable pc perhaps with even with multi dvds for various jobs working at the same time but on different tasks.

£1300 for basic computer requirements? You're mad, a £400 comp would suit your requirements. If that.

lol.. ! dont really know where to start. Im not really happy with dell anyone know of a decent make? whats the fastest processor power going at the moment?

Dell PCs are pretty decent IMO.. (I sell hundreds of the things!)

The fastest processor? Quad Core Xeon's probably.. Heh. But in a PC, look for a Core2Duo/Core2Quad something like the Q6600 for a decent spec.

I just bought a Mac Pro for our designer with Dual Intel Xeon Quads, crazy shiz! Should be a beast as it cost enough!

ive had an alienware laptop for the past few years, its gone back to them over 10 times now with various faults, out of warranty after a year and all the other times they tried to charge me 75 quid to have it sent to ireland and back, just to see what was wrong with it. after alot of moaning i got an extended warranty for 3 years for nothing........but tbh ive given up with it now, about 5 keys on the keyboard have stopped working, ethernet port stopped working, telephone connection stopped working, wireless is intermittent, and now the screens loose............they are just overpriced IMO, i wont be buying one again!
