mk2 is much better. and its all about the driver sure. i had a new 182 and ive raced with 172 and he got me real good. i mean i just got the car. with 1000 km and hes always driving fast so he opened the car so good. there wasnt that much of a difference between me and him but really its about the driver. if u can shift fast and in the right time u should be ok.

Im in the same sorta boat as you......ive a 1.2 dynamique at the mo..but its so boring, october time, once the new clios are out im lookin at either a mk1 172 or a cup.

Still really undecided!!

Mk1s all the way. Nothing down to performance though, there is that little in it!

I just prefer the looks sooooo much and i even like the fact its so much rawer to drive...the early Mk2 172s feel like Mk1s on aneasthetic driven back to back in my experience. Mine has added Mk2 bits to bring it up to date a little too...i think it has the best of both Phases aesthetically.

Heres my angry, raw, unruly, rattly Mk1. i wouldnt have it any other way!

ive driven phase 2 172 & a 182, i own a phase 1 172,

i prefer the ride of mine, it feels quicker & is infact quicker as ive took all 3 down santa pod. my phase 1 did 14.8 but 182 & phase 2 172 couldnt get into the 14s.
