Who Do I Contact - HPI is wrong

After reading a topic below i decided to do a HPI check on my trophy.
While doing this i also decided to check all the MOTs on the directgov website also.

Now below is what the directgov website says about my MOTs

Tested On 17/10/2008 - Miles 28.812
Tested On 03/08/2009 - Miles 36.533
Tested On 01/09/2010 - Miles 53.644
Tested On 30/08/2011 - Miles 54.001
MOT DUE 31/08/2012 -

Now as i say i done a HPI check and its saying in 2007 that the car had 79.000 on the clock.
Now i believe that it won't go any further back than 2008 as the car was reg in 2005 and 2008 would have been
its first MOT.
I have also contacted DVLA about this via e-mail and i thought it was 57.000 on the clock but it was actually 54.001 on its last MOT and i have explained that it was a typing error on my behalf. Who do i contact to sort this out and get the correct milage on the HPI and why would it be showing 79.000 in 2007 on a HPI but yet on the directgov MOT checker it is all correct.

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
The MOT history isnt enough to change the mileage-

Because

for example-

MOT 01/01/10 - 20k
drive the car up to 70k & clock it to 40k
MOT 01/01/11 - 40 k

People wouldnt know-

You will need service history & stamps....

I have a service book but there is a few stamps missing. I have taken photos of the old MOT,s and I'm going to head down to the garage to get a photo on the cars miles and i will pick up the service book also as its kept in the glove box.
This is such a hassle cause there system is totally pi$h

If you've got no service stamps and / or reciepts then they will do nothing as you have no proof.

Stamps mean nothing, you will need invoices!!! I'd call all the garages that have actually stamped the book, & get them to send you copy invoices of the work done. When you consider that after 13 months, my Trophy had a genuine 83k miles on it, there is every possibility that yours could have been clocked - only takes a speedo change.

Good luck with it, they wouldnt change the mileage on my old 330, & i wanted to get that corrected UPWARDS. They wouldnt do it despite the full BMW SH, MOT info, dash cluster change receipt and service invoices that i provided them with.

Dumb question, but why didnt you HPi it when you bought it>?

The car was bought and serviced at a EvansHalshaw garage which is now shut down, I have spoke to a few other EvansHalshaw garages about trying to get the original invoices for the work carried out but they say that records only need to be kept for 7 years and that there is nothing on there system or the renault system, even to the point that when the car was bought from EvansHalshaw there is no paperwork to prove this.

As for the other service stamps thats not an issue as i have contacted the other garages and I'm awaiting a response.

As for not doing a HPI when buying the car , Well i can only say thats cause i never thought about it and it never came into my head and i knew one of the previous owners of the car who was a user on this forum (SirSimon)

I also find it very hard to believe that a car can build up 79.000 in 2 years.

Well the second owner of the car bought it with 18K on the clock as i have spoken to him and he traded it into a BMW garage at around 36K

First rule of service history forging, pick a garage that has closed down ... ;)

If you want some invoices for a 182 with 54k miles on it, i have loads lol.

This was way before my time in owning the car and as evans halshaw are good at shutting loads of garages down and then grouping them together this is what they done.
It has the original stamps from the garage and then all the warranty work had to be carried out at the other renault dealer where i was today to try and sort the mess out
Im now going to contact RUK to see if they have any service history on the car with it all being done at a renault dealer.

Well got a call today from NMR and spoke to them about my milage as well as the fact that it comes up that "A" renault clio was written off.

Well it turns out that the owner of the Trophy before me had a private plate on his 172 and he wrote that off and then he put his private plate on the Trophy so it comes up saying that its been in a crash and it was written off. So glad it has nothing to do with the T and its to do with his private plate being on the 172 he wrote off.

The NMR have also corrected the milage for me as i gave them all the information the required including invoices so now when i HPI the clio it does not come up saying that in 2007 the Trophy had 79.000 on the clock.

Good result in the end.

But 79k in 2 year is quite easy by the way. Although it does sound a lot.

You must be driving 23 hours a day 7 days a week. Thats a serious amount to do in 2 years

My mates 10 plate sprinter van had 123k on it as of a week ago, and he does insulation on roughly 3 houses a day so driving is not the major part of the day for him. Not that hard to do big miles really

I do 1000 miles a week on average. That's 52 k per year.

If I bought a brand new car and did that it would be on 104k in two years! lol.

I have seen older cars (much older) have silly miles on them but I'm just very happy at the fact i have all the documents and i have had help from Steve @ R-SportsCars and the problem has been sorted.

Lol @ 76K miles being 'silly'.

This place and mileage, Jesus.

Anyone would think cars were made from candy floss and children's tears the way people treat them.

As i have said I'm just more than happy to have everything all changed and above board and the NMR have said that it was more than likely that it was an admin error and someone had put in one more zero than they should have.
As i say i supplied all the documents, Photos & history and the reason for doing this is so that if i ever did sell it and someone did HPI the car it will come back as being fine and not having 79.000 on the clocks when it clearly never has.
