Why is a FF 182 lighter than a FF 172?

As we are all aware, the 172 Cup is the lightest of the phase 2, mark 2 Clios weighing in at a purported 1021 kg (or there abouts). Then we have the 182 Cup at 1060 kg (all figures approximate), now why is there a 39 kg difference between these 2? ABS on the 182?

We move onto the FF's. A 182 FF comes in at 1080 kg, a 172 comes in at 1110 kg. Now these 2 cars are, AFAIK identical in terms of spec other than the lack of ESP, TC etc on early 172's so why is there supposedly such a discrepancy in weight figures? Surely the 182 wheels haven't been on a diet to the tune of 7.5 kg a piece.

Pretty sure, I admit those figures have come from letstorquebhp.com but the Cup is around 89kg lighter which puts it there or there abouts.

182's don't have a spare wheel. So about 20kgs there. Then just odd stuff reno changed.

If a FF 182 weights less then a FF 172, then how come theres nothing between them considering the 182 also has a 10 bhp advantage?
But does the 182 have a 10 PS advantage, Renault marketing said so as Peugeot had just released the 206 GTI 180 but 182's rarely post figure that much above 172's.

The extra metal used to make the wheel well has gone too.

Stick your 182 on a weighbridge and it comes out at around 1100kg

172 cup has thinner glass (no joke) no aircon, no abs, no side airbags, no spare etc etc

172 FF has a spare which woould explain most of the difference between that and the 182
 
ABS and air con system weight a fair bit plus the 172 CUp has other ligter bits ie thingegr front wingscreen glass and front windes alos less sound proofing etc.

182 have no spare which adds up.

So in reality, a 182 doesn't actually weigh as much as 30 kg or so less than a 172 as there is one extra back box and extra metal in the manifold among other things?

Is the tyre foam any good or doe it destroy tyres?

once you have used the tyre foam you need a new tyre
i used to work in ATS
the nasty stuff should be banned
i have got no spare and this is what the law says:

you got a spare it is required to be legal
being that 1.6mm tread even spread
inflated.

have no spare at all no problem, so all in all if your spare is shagged when you are off for the mot throw it in your garden and go to the test without it, (or just buy a new tyre)

no good if sidewall is slit or damaged either, makes a mess of alloy need good strong cleaner to get off, its like glue

Is it 1035, 1100, 1110, 1070, wxyz....??

Which is it? no one will ever know for sure, not even reno peeps...

It's a perpetual mystery! :S
