Why is it

that every time I drive my hubbys mgzs 180 (bright blue with fin on back) theres ALWAYS some bloke, usualy middleaged driving a Vauxhall or a van, agressively (spelling) driving on my tail or pulling out in front of me at the last moment!!! This happens every single time I drive his car...never happens when Im in my 172 tho...probably to dum to know what it is..Has this happened to any one else and do they only do it to women drivers?? They seem to hate the fact you are a woman AND in a sporty car!!!!!! sorry to rant but I just nipped out and it happened AGAIN!!!!!

I have to admit to being no renault expert:D but a 172 look pretty much like a normal clio and mr/mrs average would never know. I was looking at one in our local renault dealership and it hasnt got any badges except 2.0 16v on the side.

Leave it at home and stick to the Clio then. I get exactly the same treatment in my hubbys car, which is a 3.2 Beemer. I love to watch their faces sitting alongside me at traffic lights, as they think they are going to make a quick getaway. Then I see them fading in the distance through my rear-view mirror!

;)

Girlracer,

The 172 is understated and just has those little discreet silver badges to give the game away. There is an element of surprise with them - others are surprised at just how nippy they are, especially if they think they are just ordinary Clios!.

Unlike cars like tarted up Novas, they dont really attract nutcases.

I would hardly class the 172 as a "nippy" car.... lol

but I agree all the Nova boys dont even bother you.. they either know what it is and stay clear or havent got a clue.. I am more inclined to believe the "havent got a clue" one.

I cant state it enough, I love the Clio in its understated form, keeps people guessing cause at traffic lights they think.. easy kill, then they think "hey, whered he go ?"

I raced a Pug 306 on the motorway, well raced isnt really the right word.. slaughtered would be better.

We came of a roundabout onto the outside lane of the motorway, you could tell he had his foot welded to the floor. I was right up his arse for about 3-4 seconds, then he pulled over to inside lane at which point I shot passed him took it up to about 90 then back down to 70..

The guy was gone, but the funny thing was, about 2 minutes later he can flying passed looking really chuffed as he passed me..

I find the lights on a 172 MkII are REALLY blue. One came up behind me today. and before I saw the car - I knew it would be a Clio.. and sure enough it was..

Daz.

LOL I like the "understated" look although id say the normal clio looks sporty compared to the older style. Id love an escort cossie but due to its looks (which i love) i couldnt be bothered with the hastle.
