Williams Alloys Refurb help!!

Hi all,

I have a problem. I have some Williams alloys but only one of them is original. Eg Metallic Gold and correct silver rim.The others are plain gold(Not-matallic and small siver rim). I want them all like the one original. I would get them refurbed but im not sure if they can acheive what i want, and thats why im here, for help!!!! I know they will be able to get the other 3 wheels Metallic gold its just the silver rim. On the one original wheel it has the silver rim near completely flat and right to the edge(If i remeber rightly) On the others, the rim is more curved and not as thick and doesnt go right to the edge. It curves inwards before it gets to edge. Therefore for these wheels to look like the others i gather they will need to alter the actual shape and bend the metal(Alloy). Can they even do this? I thought they only refurbed to sort curbing and colour, not the actual shape, if you know what i mean. Il prob post a few pics on the site at the weekend anyway, to show exactly what i mean. But in the mean time if anyone has ever come across this problem and managed to get it sorted perfectly please let me know!! I want my wheels to look perfect again!

Cheers!!:D

that font is hurting my eyes!

cant help, but agree that the orginal look with bigger silver rim is much better!

They should be able to reshape the rim to match the original alloy ok. It will be just the same process as if the alloy has been kurbed.

Do a search on williams wheels as this use to be a favorite discussion for me a few months ago..

The only way to get the wheels 100% original is to buy new ones from renault. And you wont get much chage out of £1000

Louise that refurb looks mint!!!

Im just not too sure about Lepsons as ive heard mixed emotions about them...how long have u had them refurbed???

  BMW Z4 2.5si Sport

They were done about a yr ago now... Not ALL good tho unfortch... The close up is the totally mint one. On the front wheel u can *just* see on the top right that the rim is going funny. They dont guarantee this tho....

Still, at least theyre still 500% better than they used to be lol (almost brown, no silver rim, and various peeling on all rims )

LOL

Being a engineer I have access to all the relevant machinery needed. Just have to do it in my own time, so sat mornings. Plus we have a paint shop on site so all I had to do was provide the paint.

you bugger! Ive got £100 and a unopened pack of smarties.. sealed and mint!

Dont use Lepsons there work is terrible, only from personal experience.

I am sure there are other wheel refurb companies about that will be able to do them.

Just be warned if you do you lepsons and the work isnt up to scratch that WONT want to know.

Okay, today i got quoted between £70-80 per wheel to have them refurbed. The bloke said it would usually be around £60 to just have a refurb, but to get the wheels to have the correct silver rim etc, they would need to forge the metal so it bumps up the price. And also they check for any corrosion on the back of the alloys etc, and if found they will sort this out aswell, as he said theres no point in refurbing the wheels without doing this as the corrsion will just affect the newly refubed wheels. If i go through with it, it a place in Dorset called Alloy Magic. Just wondering what this price sounds like to others? Reasonable? And if not is there any other suggestions of where i could go? Shadow2000 in reading sounds good, but is there anywhere more local?

hehe, yes.. a great conversation - had many a time eh? :D

But yea, as north says, you have to buy them new from Renault to get hem 100% original.. no one will be able to refurb them properly. (Well, Ive seen lots and lots of refurbs and they are all wrong in some way)

well i gather im still guna have to fork out the 75 for each wheel. But for 35 a wheel thats mailto:bl@@dy">bl@@http://erc.qmuc.ac.uk/cliosport/personal.php?g=0&n=Unfiled images">mailto:bl@@dy">dy fantastic! Ill try and do a before and after pic if i can. Thats not too bad kiq12....

ive learnt that the silver lip should run to the top edge of the rim before the gold starts and flows into the tyre....

A bunch of absolute To$$ers!! Dont anyone ever go to Alloy Magic in Bournemouth!!!Yesterday: Phoned them at 11.55, they said i could pick up my car and wheels up right away. Got there at 12.20 and no one was able to help as the boss was out, asked to wait 5 min. Was left waiting for half an hour, and had to leave empty handed as no-one could tell me what i needed to pay! Had a look at the wheels.Originally had one near perfect original with slight curbing, and the others are all as per my attched earlier pic. (No silver rim etc) I asked if they could perfectly match the colour of the original, and shape the others to look like it. They said yeah fine. Between £70-£80 each, but for the original only £60.

What a load of mailto:b@ll@cks">b@ll@cks!! They ended up all the same colour as 3 that were wrong!! Hes trying to tell me that he matched it to the original!! mailto:Cr@p">Cr@p!! So if anyone wants come on down with me and show them what they should look like?;) (and how my original DID look) The silver lip, doesnt even fully run to the edge like i asked(Though admitidly doesnt look that bad)

Phones back today, and hes now charging me £90 per wheel, and also £90 for the one he stated would only be £60!! Plus im getting charged VAT which i was unaware of!!(Though like my friends said, this should have been common knowledge, and i should have known) So around £430 for a set of refurbed wheels!! Wish id spent £££ and got a brand new set!! Would have been worth it!!Plus i didnt even get an apoligy for him not turning up yesterday!!

So i still havent got my car!! Im going to get it on Sat, and really dont think i should have to pay what he asking!! Hes completly changed what we agreed!!

Sorry for the Rant, but to me an extra £100 is alot of money and im so pi$$ed off!!

  The Jinx

You could be a cheeker fecker, buy a new set of renault, tell him you cant yet pick the car up, then sneak down with your new set and change them leaving him with the sh*t ones!

Theres nothing worse than inconsiderate nobbers like these.

New wheels from reno dont cost between 70 - 80 quid pal...your looking at a good 1k for a set of 4.

[Edited by northy on 03 December 2004 at 6:53pm]

Aluminium doesnt rust ?

But aluminium still corrodes..The paint can peal off, the alloy can have light pitting in (the same as scattered pin pricks).

Its getting a company to repair the faults to give a sound base which is hard.

They wouldnt of used aerosols....but another option is powder coating them 1st then dimond cutting the rim.
