the engine is in now and the car has been given a new lease of life, it is everything i was hoping/expecting, effortless low down power, pulls far better in the higher gears, it sounds alot differnt, alot of hissing and whooshing which i actually rather like, the car is now reaching the point i had always wanted to get it, it looks very clean but original except de-badging, but the performance and the noises it emits now are far from standard!
the spec is -
late 1995 williams engine with all perishable items re-newed
- hill power stage 1 williams chip
- straight through de-cat with full magnex stainless steel system (Keeping the cast 16v manifold which is supposed to be better?)
- pipercross induction kit
i expect the aftermarket bits didnt increase performance but they add to the effect i feel, and certainly the chip increased throttle responce.
i havnt had much of a chance to get a real feel for the performance yet because its been a bit wet and it just wheel spins in the first 3 gears, but i managed to give it a nice run today in the dry (missed the early cold air unfortunatly, it was showing 11deg when i was out) it certainly goes better, i still struggle a bit for grip when coming out of a bend im learning to not use the throttle as an on off switch and instead trying to feed the power in gently,
all i need to do now is get the sodding leather rear seats in,
Ben H your card has been marked, and the grand showdown awaits!
