Williams gear knob fitting

Does anyone have any idea how to fit it ? Ive got a new one as the one on is falling apart but the fitting looks different. On the stick is star shaped.

Is something wrong or am i a gimp

The star shape still on the gearstick needs to come off then the new knob will slide straight on but may move slightly so I used super glue. I had the same problem fitting mine the star shape on the gearstick should stay connected inside the knob.

When u take it off u will see, my take some plyers or put the old one back on and try turning it to loosen it.

Jobs sorted. Was a pain to get off though but did it in the end. May have to put some glue on it as you can move it if you want to but its fine for now.
