williams mpg

ive jsut stuck my freshly rebuilt williams engine in my 19 16v. its done 600miles now, and am a little concerned about its fuel economy;

22mpg around town

28-30max mpg at steady 70mph

i used to manage 40mpg regulalry with my 1.8 at 80mph. at the moment its costing me a poacket in fuel everyday.

wat does every1 elses williamss get mpg wise?

Get about 35MPG on a steady motorway run using BP super, round town its pretty bad though!

I wouldnt worry about it, i had my 1.8 reconditioned and it was bad on fuel for the first 1-1.5k miles and guzzled oil. After that it loosened up and is far better even though i floor it nearly all the time.

Have you been back in to have proper oil stuck in and the head torqued down again?

If a dont accelerate hard and travel at 60 on the clock i get 46 mpg in Williams 0002 (tested 3 times now).

With me driving i get 30 - 32 mpg in my willy.

Which is good believe me.

I got 240 miles out of my first tank of petrol on my standard Williams. That did include some "enthusiastic" driving, but my 16V was getting 300 miles to the tank in similar conditions.
