WILLIAMS suspension setup

  BMW 535d
So ive ordered my r888 GG

Now I wantto complete the all round of my car

It already has, polybushed ARB and wishbones. Brand new OEMtop mounts and new rear shocks

My front shocks are about 40k miles old...no leaks etc. Would I be wise to go new?

It also sits too low for my liking. Ive heard that 172 springs could fit the strut?

It sits like this...so would like tobring it up a good few MM

I recently bought a new set of GAZ coilovers. Ive taken them off again because they were SO stiff it wasnt even funny. Hated driving the thing

Yea? Direct fitment?

How high will it sit though? I remember my mates old cup being a bit nose high

I'm not sure what you're asking so i'm going to spout off anyway... lol.

I bought FK konigsport (williams fitment) for my valver and they are superb! The ride is completely spot on. (Fast road driving, not made it on track yet)

Well I tried the Gaz and TBH im angry with myself as they are s**t

Its kind of put me off coilovers all together. For what I actually do with the car all I want to do is raise it a little as its a bit low for my old man ways now.

I cant be bothered to spunk another load of money on more coilies.

I like the way my standard suspension rides since i replaced the top mounts anyway. I like the comfort and trust the car. I just want springs that will raise it up a little, say 20mm, but dont want standard ride height

Wagner, i've got some standard 182 cup springs if they're any good to you?

You can have them for £20 posted if thats any use.

I wouldnt know how a standard 182 sits mate?

The actual struts from a 172 dont fit a williams. Just the springs are interchangable from memory?

The 172 and williams springs are the same iirc. the cup springs are a touch lower. They will all give a high ride height tbh

No coilover will match a Standard Williams set up for road use imo

My Fk konigsports will be for sale at the end of the month when i break the car and will suit your needs perfectly;) they can be set as soft as standard or almost race car hard....

No!!

The best coilover and cheapest ive had are JR coilovers, they handled the best and were very comfortable. Ive had Gaz coilovers altho they went dick head low, the ride was not the best.

Any form of decent drop will effect the ride massively :(

you are correct mate the cup springs should be 5mm lower than standard springs
but the standard setup is fantastic

hmmmm it depends on the road surfaces tbh.

gaz coilies were always s**t on the williams. although i believe they managed to sort out the top of the strut punching holes in the bonnet. lol.

the avo's i have on mine were superb tbh. depending on setting they were only just a little harder than oe, but with sharper turn in and easier to get the arse wagging around a bit suited me. they could do with a refurb now though.
